Sun to expand its racing coverage to 5 days a week
Friday, June 15, 2001 | noon
Starting next week, auto racing fans won't have to wait until Friday to catch up on the latest from the NASCAR, CART and IRL open wheel and NHRA drag racing circuits in the print edition of the Las Vegas Sun.
In addition to Friday's weekly motorsports page and Monday's Las Vegas Speed Chart, veteran Sun auto racing writer Brian Hilderbrand will compile specialty notebooks focusing on America's most popular racing series.
Beginning Monday, the Sun's auto racing coverage will expand to five days a week, every week.
* On Monday, the Las Vegas Speed Chart will recap how Las Vegas-based racers fared over the weekend.
* NASCAR Tuesday will feature the latest news from America's most popular racing series, the NASCAR Winston Cup circuit, as well as notes from NASCAR support tours such as the Busch and Craftsman Truck series.
* Open Wheel Wednesday will focus on the CART and IRL open-wheel series, with a dash of Formula One and World of Outlaws sprint car racing.
* NHRA Thursday will offer news and notes from the Top Fuel, Funny Car and Pro Stock drag racing circuits.
* Then on Friday, the Sun will put the pedal to the metal with a full page of motorsports news, including Brian Hilderbrand's expanded notebook, Sun award-winning cartoonist Mike Smith's nationally syndicated NASCAR cartoon, and schedules, point standings and race previews from all the top circuits, including NASCAR, CART, IRL, Formula One and NHRA.
If it happens in the fast lane, the Sun will be there -- every day of the week.
