Wireless local voice telephone, Internet service offered

AT&T Wireless said today it will begin offering high-speed Internet access and local telephone service delivered by antennas in portions of Southern Nevada.
Local phone service -- transmitted to an antenna installed on a customer's home -- starts at $12.95 a month. High speed Internet service -- also delivered to the antenna -- is priced at $34.95 per month.
The service is unique in that it eliminates the outside wires necessary for land-line communications. The only wires for the system are those inside the home connecting the antenna to telephones and computers.
The initial Southern Nevada launch of AT&T Digital Broadband is in North Las Vegas and parts of Las Vegas. The company plans to expand the service to Summerlin, Henderson and the rest of Las Vegas by the end of the year, a company spokeswoman said.
