Energy surcharge imposed

Following in the footsteps of many of its competitors, Park Place Entertainment Corp. announced Tuesday it will introduce a $3 nightly energy surcharge on hotel rooms at nine of its Nevada properties.
The surcharge will take effect June 15. Properties that will introduce the surcharge are Bally's Las Vegas, Caesars Palace, Flamingo Las Vegas, Paris Las Vegas, the Las Vegas Hilton, the Flamingo Reno, the Reno Hilton, Caesars Tahoe and the Flamingo Laughlin.
It's unclear how much extra revenue these surcharges will actually generate for casinos, since Las Vegas hotel room rates fluctuate dramatically based on demand.
