Beverly Jean Bess

Beverly Jean Bess, 58, of Las Vegas died Saturday in a local hospital. She was born Aug. 12, 1942, in Montebello, Calif. A resident for seven years, she was a retired aerospace technician.

She is survived by her stepmother, Mary Green of Paradise, Calif.; two stepbrothers, Robert Lee Bess Jr. of Paradise and Tony Sanchez of Henderson; and three stepsisters, Pamela Sanchez of Henderson, Carlotta Sanchez of Upland, Calif., and Michelle Sanchez of Las Vegas.

Graveside services will be 3 p.m. Friday in Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave.

The family suggests donations to the American Diabetes Association, 2785 E. Desert Inn Road, Las Vegas, NV 89121.

Ruth Naomi Blakeney

Ruth Naomi Blakeney, 88, of Las Vegas died Saturday in Las Vegas. She was born Dec. 26, 1912, in North Carolina. A resident for five years, she was a retired classical pianist.

She is survived by one niece, Geneva I. Moore of Las Vegas; and two cousins, Lillie Mary Outlaw of Philadelphia and Lucy Hopkins of New York City.

No local services are scheduled. Services and burial will be in California. Affordable Cremation and Burial Service, 2457 N. Decatur Blvd., is handling arrangements.

Terry Ferdinand

Terry Ferdinand, 49, of Las Vegas died Saturday in a local hospital. She was born May 29, 1952, in Los Angeles. A resident for 48 years, she was a dental hygienist.

She is survived by her husband, Barry; and one daughter, Stacy Shaffer of Mesa, Ariz.

Jean L. Fleischer

Jean L. Fleischer, 76, of Henderson died Friday in a local hospice. She was born March 18, 1925, in Allentown, Pa. A resident for 23 years, she was a retail sales instructor.

She is survived by three sons, Terry Fleischer and Scott Fleischer, both of Las Vegas and Philip Gesoff of Boca Raton, Fla.; and one daughter, Sherri Gersten of Las Vegas.

Nevada Funeral Service-Nevada Cremation or Burial Society, 2983 Fremont St., handled private arrangements.

Johanna Folkers

Johanna Folkers, 73, of Las Vegas died Sunday in a local hospital. She was born March 30, 1928, in Germany. A resident for 31 years, she was a retired hotel cashier.

She is survived by her husband, Gunter.

Mattie Garner

Mattie Garner, 59, of Las Vegas died May 27 in Las Vegas. A homemaker, she was born March 30, 1942, in Alabama.

She is survived by four sons, Earl Garner, Lewis Garner, Eric Garner and Samuel Garner, and two daughters, Barbara Garner and Alice Lilly, all of Las Vegas; one brother, Ben Crumbler; two sisters, Willa Scott and Zena Manderville; 15 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled 11 a.m.-7 p.m. today in Harrison-Ross Mortuaries, 2071 Las Vegas Blvd. North, North Las Vegas. Burial will be private.

Dorothy Ann Grant

Dorothy Ann Grant, 69, of Las Vegas died Saturday in Las Vegas. She was born June 4, 1932, in Las Vegas. A resident for five years, she was a clerk for the county of San Bernardino, Calif.

She is survived by four sons, William, Mike, David and Doug; one daughter, Lori; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Desert Memorial Cremation and Burial Society, 1111 Las Vegas Blvd. North, is arranging private services.

Norma Jean Hix

Norma Jean Hix, 80, of Las Vegas died Monday in Las Vegas. She was born Nov. 3, 1920, in St. Louis. A resident for 23 years, she was a retired card and gift shop manager and a member of the Nevada Business Womens Association.

She is survived by one daughter, Sharon Cooke of Las Vegas; two sons, Richard Hix of Las Vegas and Gerald Hix of Branson, Mo.; nine grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled 9 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. services Thursday in Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave. Burial will follow in Palm Valley View Memorial Park.

Edgar Kowalski

Edgar Kowalski, 53, of Las Vegas died Sunday in Las Vegas. He was born Sept. 10, 1947, in South Bend, Ind. A resident for seven years, he was an emergency room physician, an attorney and an Air Force flight surgeon.

He is survived by his wife, Susan; one daughter, Julie Kowalski of Indianapolis; one son, Adam Kowalski of Las Vegas; and one sister, Judith Fields of San Antonio.

A memorial service will be 4 p.m. Thursday in St. Thomas More Catholic Church, 130 N. Pecos Road, Henderson. Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave., is handling arrangements.

Sandra Jo LaBelle

Sandra Jo LaBelle, 52, of Las Vegas died June 7 in Las Vegas. She was born April 5, 1949, in Bonners Ferry, Idaho. A resident for 20 years, she was a retail sales manager at Wal-Mart.

She is survived by her husband of 33 years, Reginald A.; two sons, Erik W. LaBelle and Jereme L. LaBelle, and one daughter, Hilary LaBelle, all of Las Vegas; her parents, Mary Jo and Ernie Riedlinger, and two sisters, Linda Peluso and Debra James, all of Idaho.

Visitation is scheduled 2-6 p.m. today in Bunkers Mortuary, 925 Las Vegas Blvd. North. Services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday in Bunkers Chapel.

Bernice McKensie

Bernice McKensie, 73, of Las Vegas died Thursday in a local hospital. She was born Dec. 16, 1927, in Houston. A resident for nine years, she was a retired presser for a dry cleaning establishment.

She is survived by one son, Barry McKensie of Las Vegas; two daughters, Jackie McKensie of Las Vegas and Cherry Breckridge of Houston; and four grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled 3-5 p.m. Wednesday in Affordable Cremation and Burial Service, 2457 N. Decatur Blvd. Graveside services will be 10 a.m. Thursday in Palm Memorial Park, Northwest.

Forrest John Morrow

Forrest John Morrow, 64, of Las Vegas died Friday in Las Vegas. He was born Jan. 2, 1937, in Texas. A resident for 17 years, he was a casino slot floorman and an Air Force veteran.

He is survived by his wife, Virginia Diane; one son, Russell Keith Morrow; five daughters, Carol Johneen Morrow, Amy Nanette Berkowitz, Gabrielle Suzette Berkowitz, Rachael Fern Morrow and Jennifer Kathleen Sandberg; one brother, Gerard A. Morrow; one sister, Ruth Arleen Stratton; 14 grandchildren.

A memorial service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday in Desert Memorial Cremation and Burial Society, 1111 Las Vegas Blvd. North.

Ivis Names, 80, of Boulder City died Friday in a local hospital. She was born Sept. 23, 1920, in Richfield, Utah. A resident for 38 years, she was a homemaker and a member and past matron of Order of the Eastern Star, Desert Chapter.

She is survived by her husband, John P.; three daughters, Sandra Hamilton of Somerset, Calif., Kathy Cooper of San Rafael, Calif., and Heather Renee Names of Boulder City; three sons, Richard Earle of Livermore, Calif., Ron Names of Petaluma, Calif., and John A. Names of Boulder City; one sister, Faye Sorensen of Salt Lake City; six grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled 2-7 p.m. today in Palm Mortuary, 800 S. Boulder Highway, Henderson. Additional visitation is scheduled one hour prior to an 11 a.m. service Wednesday in the Boulder City Fifth Street LDS Chapel. Burial will follow in Boulder City Cemetery, 501 Adams Blvd.

Charles W. 'Bill' Pickenbach

Charles W. "Bill" Pickenbach, 93, of Las Vegas died Saturday in Las Vegas. He was born Dec. 31, 1907, in Los Angeles. A resident for eight years, he was a retired commercial painter.

He is survived by one son, Robert D. MacNaught of Stockton, Calif.; six grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled 3-7 p.m. today in Palm Mortuary, 7400 W. Cheyenne Ave. Services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday in Palm Chapel, Cheyenne. Graveside services will follow at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Memory Gardens, 7251 W. Lone Mountain Road.

Bill Patrick Potter

Bill Patrick Potter, 52, of Las Vegas died Friday in Las Vegas. He was born Oct. 10, 1948, in North Carolina. A resident off and on for most of his life, he was a plumber, a Marine Corps veteran and a member of the Plumbers and Mechanical Contractors Association of Nevada.

He is survived by his wife, Linda; one son, James; two brothers, John and Daniel; and two sisters, Essie and Jody.

Katherine M. Ross

Katherine M. Ross, 64, of Las Vegas died Saturday in Las Vegas. She was born Jan. 6, 1937, in Miami. A resident for 18 years, she was a medical office manager.

She is survived by two sons, Donald Beatty of Lake Forest, Calif., and William Beatty of Las Vegas; and two grandchildren.

Evelyn K. Sopoci

Evelyn K. Sopoci, 95, of Las Vegas died June 5 in Las Vegas. She was born Aug. 6, 1905, in Illinois. A resident for five years, she was a retail sales clerk and a member of the Order of the Eastern Star in Chicago.

She is survived by one son, Norman A. Thelen.

Patricia Ann Stein

Patricia Ann Stein, 64, of Las Vegas died Friday in Las Vegas. She was born July 20, 1936, in New York. A resident for eight years, she was a registered nurse, past president of the American Legion Auxiliary and Association of Operating Room Nurses in Palm Springs, director of Greene Dreher Sterling County Fair, member of Fire Department Auxiliary and Newfoundland Rescue Squad.

She is survived by her husband, Victor; one son, David; three daughters, Diane, Ann and Theresa; and several grandchildren.

Mass will be celebrated noon Friday in Holy Family Catholic Church, 4490 Mountain Vista St. Desert Memorial Cremation and Burial Society, 1111 Las Vegas Blvd. North, is handling arrangements.

Vincentine C. Vincent

Vincentine C. Vincent, 98, of Las Vegas died Saturday in Las Vegas. He was born Aug. 11, 1902, in New York City. A resident for nine years, he was a retired New York Telephone Co. operator and a member of the New York Telephone Pioneers.

He is survived by one son, Jack W. Vincent, and one daughter, Carole LaRocca, both of Las Vegas; one sister, Josephine Handler of New Jersey; five grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

A memorial service will be 3 p.m. Wednesday in Nevada Funeral Service-Nevada Cremation or Burial Society, 2983 Fremont St. Burial will be in New York City.

Mollie G. Weiss

Mollie G. Weiss, 92, of Las Vegas died Monday in a local hospice. She was born Sept. 29, 1908, in Brooklyn, N.Y. A resident for three years, she was a homemaker, a member of Free Sons of Israel and Forest Hills Jewish Center.

She is survived by two daughters, Eilene Weiss of West Hollywood, Calif., and Barbara Chozahinoff of Las Vegas; one son, Monroe Weiss of New York City; two sisters, Mary Smookler of Torrance, Calif., and Sylvia Ross of New York City; one brother, Julius Marmor of Long Island, N.Y.; and four grandchildren.

Services were 3 p.m. today in King David Memorial Chapel and Cemetery, 2697 Eldorado Lane.
