Pact seems likely with Sprint PCS

LONDON -- Virgin Group is close to a joint-venture deal with Sprint PCS that will bring Virgin's mobile phone services to the United States, officials and sources said today.
An industry source told the Associated Press that Virgin and Sprint Corp. of Kansas City have already signed a memorandum of understanding on a Virgin-branded joint venture valued at about $1 billion.
