Letter: California feels president’s wrath
Monday, June 11, 2001 | 10:03 a.m.
So now Bush II is allocating $200 million of taxpayer money to restore the Everglades in Florida -- his brother Jeb's state.
Meanwhile "W" has arrogantly turned his back again on California, a country unto itself, while allowing the power companies there to claim bankruptcy, practice price gouging, turning off power deliberately, trapping people in elevators, causing traffic accidents because of traffic lights being turned off -- along with myriad other disasters dangerous to life and limb.
Sorry for my cynicism -- but any thinking person would look upon this as a revengeful punishment. Californians vote Democratic and are enthusiastic about their very decent governor, Gray Davis, who is anything but impressed with "W" Bush.
As for Las Vegans vindictively blaming Californians for the problems caused by the power companies -- better be careful!
If Californians become angry enough and decide to stay at home and patronize their new courteous and clean Indian casinos in California -- we will soon see yet another ghost town in our desert -- Las Vegas!
