Story: George Burns was seven weeks past 100 when he died peacefully at his Beverly Hills, Calif., home on Saturday.
March 24: Kosovo violence renewed
Story: Serbian police and ethnic Albanians clashed in villages in the troubled province of Kosovo today. One policeman was reported killed.
May 15: So long, Ol' Blue Eyes
Story: Frank Sinatra, the Chairman of the Board who did everything his way during a multifaceted entertainment career, died of a heart attack late Thursday in Los Angeles. He was 82.
Sept. 18: Former Horseshoe exec Ted Binion found dead
Story: 55-year-old Ted Binion, whose gaming license was revoked in March in part because of his ties to organized-crime figures, was found dead in his home on Palomino Lane Thursday from what police said may have been an accidental overdose of prescription drugs.
Oct. 28: Glenn ready for historic space mission
Story: John Glenn, a 77-year-old senator poised to return to space 36 years after becoming the first American in orbit, spent most of the day with other astronauts in the crew headquarters.
