A Las Vegas panel reviewing proposals for developing 61 acres of prime downtown property will leave the task of ranking the ideas up to the City Council.
On Thursday, the review panel, which includes Mayor Oscar Goodman, City Council members Gary Reese and Lawrence Weekly, Business Development Director Lesa Coder and City Manager Virginia Valentine, met to discuss the four proposals that were turned in last week.
The four proposals are:
Goodman said the panel did not rank their favorites but reviewed and discussed the proposals. The council could pick one project or any combination of the four.
A special City Council meeting is expected to be scheduled from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. June 25, in which the four developers will make presentations to the council and allow the members to ask questions, Goodman said.
The council will then pick a master developer and the projects that will be built on the former Union Pacific Railroad land near the County Government Center.
Coder said after the projects are chosen she will draft a written agreement between the developer and the city. An agreement would go before the council at a future meeting.
Coder said once a developer is chosen she will advertise for the hiring of a facilitator who would oversee the day-to-day operations on the land.
