@Security Broadband and Cox complete Vegas trial

Thursday, June 7, 2001 | 11:36 a.m.

Austin, Texas-based @Security Broadband Corp, which has partnered with Cox Communications in Las Vegas, said it completed a test in Las Vegas of its home security system and that it should be available to be sold to Las Vegas consumers by the end of the year.

The home security system allows users to view their home from a remote location through a computer, providing video and sound that is streamed through the cable television system, said Steve Schorr, Cox's vice president of public and governmental affairs.

The technology, which was tested in the past few months in about 100 Las Vegas homes, uses multiple wireless door and window sensors, a video transmission unit and multiple cameras.

The price of the security system has yet to be determined, said an @Security spokesman.
