LV tech firm bolsters management

Thursday, June 7, 2001 | 11:34 a.m.

PurchasePro, an ailing Las Vegas-based software firm, continues to bolster its management team. The company said Wednesday it appointed Allen Winder, 44, to the position of chief operating officer, a position previously held by its president Shawn McGhee.

McGhee remains president. Winder joined the company in March as senior vice president of sales. His move to COO was the third major management shift for PurchasePro in less than a month.

Former Quantum Corp. Chief Financial Officer Richard Clemmer became PurchasePro's CFO in May, then was elevated to chief executive officer Monday, filling a vacancy created when founder Charles "Junior" Johnson abruptly resigned in May.

Winder served as vice president and general manager of consulting firm J.D. Edwards from November 1997 to December 2000.

Clemmer acknowledged in a Tuesday statement that the company "suffers from a credibility gap," and that a "new communications group is in place to close that gap."

Part of the credibility issues stem from a series of revisions in the past five weeks the company has made regarding its first quarter financial results.
