Water bills can be paid on district’s website
Wednesday, June 6, 2001 | 8:30 a.m.
Southern Nevadans will be able to pay their water bills with the click of a mouse as a result of an agreement between the Las Vegas Valley Water District and Billserve Inc, an electronic bill provider.
Electronic bill presentment and payment (EBPP), will allow the Water District's 800,000 Southern Nevada customers to view and pay their bills at the company's website (www.lvvwd.com).
EBPP's instant account activation feature will provide instant approval for customers opening new accounts. The program will be implemented by the end of the year.
"This system will give customers another option,' said Vince Alberta of the Water District. "And we make every effort to make life easier for our customers.'
According to Alberta, because payment information is only exchanged between the Water District and Billserve and the customer and their bank, customers can be confident their account information will be secure. Customers will also be asked specific questions to verify that they are accessing their own account. Alberta said additional security features will be available at the customer's request.
