LV company launches in-room gaming venture

Wednesday, June 6, 2001 | 10:58 a.m.

Station Casinos Inc. today announced the launch of GameCast Live LLC, a subsidiary that will market for-cash games that can be played in hotel rooms through television sets or personal computers.

Station said it plans to initially market its first product, "eSlots," to cruise lines and Indian casinos, but will later market the product to major hotel-casinos, both in Nevada and elsewhere. The company anticipates launching the product in 2002, subject to regulatory approvals.

The company said the product will differ from existing online gaming because it uses streaming audio and video to connect the guest to a real slot or video poker machine in the casino. The product will be offered only to guests of a casino's hotel rooms, though a wireless remote will allow guests to play throughout the property.

Station has not indicated if the remote gambling system will be used in its Las Vegas-area hotel-casinos.
