North Las Vegas Police have arrested two gang members in connection with the the April murder of 28-year-old Erick Bass.

The arrests of Antonio "T-Loo" Looney and DeTwan "D-Tweeze" Harvey on Friday brings the total number of gang members arrested to eight, since a wave of gang violence hit North Las Vegas in late February.

Police say the gang violence is to blame for eight of the 12 homicides they have investigated this year.

Looney, 28, and Harvey, 21, have been charged with the April 15 slaying of Bass, who was found shot in the head inside a car in the 2500 block of West Street, near Carey Avenue and Martin Luther King Boulevard.

Two weeks ago detectives made five arrests in their investigation into the March 3 fatal shooting of 26-year-old Joe "Doughboy" Williams.

Williams was found shot several times in front of the Buena Vista Springs Apartment complex in the 2500 block of Morton Avenue. He was taken to University Medical Center, where he later died.

Police arrested Ashley "Face" Bennett, 27; Louis "Chew" Matthews, 19; Lailoni Morrison, 21; Jermaine "Wing" Webb, 16; and Wayne Anthony "Wacky-G" Gantt, 17. All five are members of the same gang and Williams was a member of a rival gang, police said.

Police are still searching for Lamont Antwan "T-Wak" Graves, 21, in connection with Williams' slaying.

On April 4 police arrested Thomas "T-Buzz" Sterling, 18, charging him with the Feb. 25 murder of Ricky "Slick Rick" Chiles. Chiles was found shot to death near his car in the 2500 block of Raymond Avenue.
