Letter: Let Mexico take care of its own

The pending decision to give the three million Mexican illegals amnesty is a clever ploy by the present administration to court the Hispanic voters. To do this would give succor to Vincente Fox, who would like nothing better than to get them off his back. The cost to the American taxpayer would be atrocious.
These illegals would be issued Social Security cards, which in turn would make them liable for paying federal income tax. And as taxpayers they could qualify for social benefits, which as I mentioned would, in the long run burden the American taxpayers. Compounding this situation, the United States would give financial assistance to the regions where these illegals emmigrated from.
So, right off the bat it is costing the United States what could be big bucks. I have no qualms about giving aid to anyone who needs it if the person has entered the country legally and gone through all the procedures that would declare them legal. But these people have entered illegally and as such have committed a crime. Should we reward a crime? I think not.
Why should our priorities be focused upon illegals, when there are so many homeless and other unfortunate American citizens who need help. Let Fox do his duty to his own citizens and we will do our duty to our citizens.
