Morrow to succeed retiring Ziola

Gov. Kenny Guinn today named John Morrow of Reno to the state Board of Parole Commissioners, succeeding Norman Ziola who is retiring at the end of the month.

Morrow, 66, is chief deputy public defender in Washoe County, a position he has held since 1992. He served 20 years as an officer in the U.S. Air Force prior to that.

Guinn said Morrow's "experience, reputation and knowledge of the legal system in Nevada make him an excellent choice for this important post." Morrow said he would work to keep the rights of the victims and the safety of the public as his top priorities.

He will earn $68,709 in his new job.

Morrow graduated with a bachelor's degree in business administration from the University of Nebraska in 1957 and gained a master's from Arizona State. He received his law degree from McGeorge School of Law in California.
