Letter: Bush destroys only decadence

Thursday, July 26, 2001 | 9:52 a.m.

In response to Ted O. Hall's letter to the editor regarding the comparison between former President Clinton and President Bush, let's look at the facts. Yes, Clinton lied about a sexual affair but it wasn't just one act of "malfeasance." He lied six different times under oath. Big difference.

We certainly had economic growth under Clinton, but the economy began a downward swing at least one year before the end of his presidency. President Bush took over when the economy was in this downturn. I fail to see the logic in the liberal belief that job layoffs have only begun during the seven months of the Bush presidency.

Finally, Hall refers to Bush as a "poster-boy president" who has destroyed all that Clinton had accomplished. What President Bush has destroyed is the decadence that surrounded the Clinton presidency.
