Letter: Second language must be choice
Wednesday, July 25, 2001 | 8:53 a.m.
I agree with Theresa Mataga's July 22 letter on the point that our children should not be forced to speak Spanish, though I think she was a bit crass.
Our children should not be forced to speak any foreign language, but our schools should always give our children the option and opportunity to learn any foreign language, by choice.
I, too, am sick and tired of Spanish being shoved down my, and my children's, throats.
This is America, give them freedom of choice!
