Letter: Power bill no problem for VP
Wednesday, July 25, 2001 | 8:53 a.m.
Vice President Dick Cheney definitely has a lot of chutzpah. It must be great to be a Republican vice president!
I, along with many seniors on fixed income, would greatly appreciate having the Navy pay my electric bill. Or have any branch of the federal government pay my electric bill. In fact, that would be better appreciated than that phantom "tax refund."
Wasn't it Cheney who said "let the market determine the price of power?" If fact, it was the Republican appropriations committee that insisted on the installation of a meter to monitor energy use at the vice president's residence when Democrat Al Gore was vice president.
As the old saying goes, "what goes around, comes around."
