Riviera hotel to host weekend tournament

Some of the best billiards players in the world will converge on the Royale Pavilion at the Riviera Hotel this weekend for the Carl S. Conlon Memorial WorldCup 3-Cushion Billiard Tournament.
The 20 seeded players on Saturday begin play in the main tournament, with a 32-player single-elimination format. The semifinals and finals will be held on Monday.
The top U.S. player to watch is Sang Chun Lee of New York City, who won his 12th consecutive U.S. championship in February and is the world's 12th-ranked player. The second- and third-ranked U.S. players, Carlos Hallon of Miami and Adrian Viguera of Chicago, will also be seeded into the main tournament. Tickets are available at the door. All-day passes cost $15 to $70 depending on the session and location. Today's action will run through 10 p.m. with Saturday's schedule set noon-6 p.m., Sunday's from 10 a.m.-10 p.m. and Monday's from noon-10 p.m.
