Letter: Drivers thumb nose at laws
Friday, July 20, 2001 | 4:46 a.m.
I hate to stereotype people, but a bothersome trend seems to be occurring.
The worst road rage and worst drivers I've encountered are those who live in the Summerlin area. I don't know if it is because they think they're more affluent, and thus not subject to the laws of the road, or if they all come from California where this behavior is the norm. They tailgate, go at least 10 to 20 mph over the speed limit, and have the nerve to yell and use gestures toward the drivers that are obeying the laws of the road.
I have lived here for more than 21 years. It used to be a pleasure to drive on our roads. I suggest that these people either learn the rules of the road or go back to where they came from. Wealth does not put you above the law. If you want a ticket, get it someplace else where you won't kill or maim any of our residents.
I've paid a lot more road taxes than you have, and I respect the laws. If you can't, don't drive. Metro Police should profile the drivers from Summerlin instead of minorities for awhile and maybe we would all be a lot safer.
