Verna L. Beatty

Verna L. Beatty, 83, of Las Vegas died Saturday in Las Vegas. She was born Sept. 16, 1917, in Minnesota. A resident for 29 years, she was a homemaker.

She is survived by her husband, Leland; two sons, James Harrison of Rancho Cordova, Calif., and Daniel Harrison of Palo Alto, Calif.; two stepsons, David Beatty and Lee Beatty, both of Las Vegas; two grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be 10 a.m. Friday in Calvary Lutheran Church, 800 N. Bruce St. Palm Mortuary, 1325 N. Main St., is handling arrangements.

Gary Lee Bishop

Gary Lee Bishop, 45, of Las Vegas died Monday in Las Vegas. He was born Aug. 30, 1955, in Las Vegas. A lifelong resident, he was a janitor for Opportunity Village.

He is survived by his wife, Yvonne; one stepson, Clint Smith, and one stepdaughter, Dorissa Smith, both of Louisiana; one sister, Sharee Nichols of Overton; three brothers, Richard Bishop of Las Vegas, Joseph Bishop of Overton and Jeff Ward of California; and five grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled 2-4 p.m. Sunday in Bunkers Mortuary, 925 Las Vegas Blvd. North. Graveside services will be 10 a.m. Monday in Woodlawn Cemetery.

Alice M. Caldwell

Alice M. Caldwell, 88, of North Las Vegas died Monday in North Las Vegas. She was born Jan. 12, 1913, in Mandeville, La. A resident for 26 years, she was a homemaker.

She is survived by one nephew, Donald V. Archie of Slidell, La.

Visitation is scheduled 2-7 p.m. today in Palm Mortuary, 1325 N. Main St. Mass will be celebrated 11:13 a.m. Friday in St. James Catholic Church, 820 N. H St. Graveside services will follow at 1:30 p.m. Friday in Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 1900 Buchanan Blvd., Boulder City.

Carolyn Chatman

Carolyn Chatman, 60, of Las Vegas died Thursday in a local care center. She was born Nov. 8, 1940, in Chicago. A resident for 25 years, she was a retired school principal.

She is survived by her husband, Roland Sr.; one son, Roland Chatman Jr. of Atlanta; two daughters, Raimi Chatman of Las Vegas and Njemile Sauda of San Diego; her mother, Rosa Little, and four brothers, Graten Little Jr., Vincent Little, Lionel Little and Ronald Little, all of Detroit; three sisters, Efua Atta and Diane Stevenson, both of Detroit and Patricia Budd of Atlanta; and one grandchild.

A memorial service will be 10 a.m. Saturday in Palm Mortuary, 1325 N. Main St. Burial will be in Palm Memorial Park.

Vera Cisson

Vera Cisson, 76, of Las Vegas died Sunday in a local hospital. She was born June 6, 1925, in Canonsburg, Pa. A resident for 14 years, she was a homemaker.

She is survived by her husband, Anthony D.; two sons, Kenneth Cisson of Houston and Dale Cisson of El Segundo, Calif.; two daughters, Diane Lombardo and Kim Faust, both of Las Vegas; one brother, Quincy DiYenno of Ocean City, N.J.; five grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Lucille Curnutte

Lucille Curnutte, 77, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in Las Vegas. She was born Oct. 22, 1923, in Loretta, Wis. A resident for four years, she was a homemaker and a member of the Eagles and American Legion.

She is survived by two daughters, Schari Snelius of Las Vegas and Ann Bernard of Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; one son, Charles Farmer of Fort Lauderdale; two sisters, Alpha Doers of Ripon, Wis., and Verna Kaiesner of Rockford, Ill.; one brother, Amos Seng of Oak Creek, Wis.; two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Services will be private. Nevada Funeral Service, 2983 Fremont St., handled arrangements.

Darrel T. Deuel

Darrel T. Deuel, 43, of Las Vegas died Saturday in Las Vegas. He was born June 19, 1958, in Detroit. A resident for 26 years, he was an employee for trade shows and a member of the Teamsters Local No. 631.

He is survived by two brothers, Steve Deuel of Las Vegas and Don Deuel of Howard City, Mich.; and one sister, Eileen Erickson of Chatham, Mich.

A memorial service was 3 p.m. Wednesday in Calvary Chapel East, 370 E. Windmill Road. Nevada Funeral Service, 2983 Fremont St., handled arrangements.

T. Edward Elkington

T. Edward Elkington, 96, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in a local hospital. He was born March 6, 1905, in Briton, Mich. A resident for 15 years, he was a retired office manager, an Army veteran, a member of the Eastern Star and the Shriners.

He is survived by one son, Thomas E. Elkington of Las Vegas; two grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Elizabeth Marie Ferguson

Elizabeth Marie Ferguson, 95, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in a local care center. She was born Oct. 14, 1905, in Chicago. A resident for 20 years, she was a homemaker and a former member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and World War I Ladies Auxiliary.

She is survived by one niece, Catherine Marshall of Las Vegas.

Dale Ferree

Dale Ferree, 76, of Henderson died Tuesday in a local hospital. He was born Jan. 19, 1925, in Clinton County, Ohio. A resident for five years, he was a retired systems analyst in the aerospace industry and a World War II Coast Guard veteran.

He is survived by his wife, Evelyn; two daughters, Doreen Masterson and Daughn Callahan, both of Henderson; five sons, Donald Ferree of Lincoln, Neb., David Ferree of Castro Valley, Calif., Dean Ferree of West Hills, Calif., Dale Ferree of Pleasant Gardens, N.C., and Dennis Ferree of Henderson; two sisters, Wilma Christy of Riverside, Calif., and Gean McDonald of Fossil, Ore.; 14 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Santiago Gonzalez

Santiago Gonzalez, 48, of North Las Vegas died Thursday in North Las Vegas. He was born July 25, 1952, in Durango, Mexico. A resident for 25 years, he was a kitchen worker for 23 years at the Fremont hotel-casino.

He is survived by his wife, Alicia; two daughters, Sylvia Vallez and Alma Rosa Carrillo, and three sons, Manuel Gonzalez, Daniel Gonzalez and Josue James Gonzalez, all of Las Vegas; four sisters; four brothers; and three grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled 2-7 p.m. Friday in Palm Mortuary, 1325 N. Main St. Services will be 3 p.m. Saturday in Palm Chapel, Main.

Annie E. Gray

Annie E. Gray, 66, of Las Vegas died Saturday in Las Vegas. A resident for 37 years, she was born Feb. 12, 1935, in Arcadia, La.

She is survived by two brothers, Tommy Gray of Las Vegas and L.T. Gray of Louisiana; and two sisters, Bertha Mae Abraham of California and Leah England of Chicago.

Visitation is scheduled 1 p.m. Thursday in Bunkers Mortuary, 925 Las Vegas Blvd. North. Services will be noon Friday in Bunkers Chapel. Burial will follow in Palm Valley View Memorial Park.

Orlinda Groth

Orlinda Groth, 94, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in Las Vegas. She was born March 22, 1907, in Windsor, Colo. A resident for three years, she was a homemaker.

She is survived by one niece, Karen Strawn of Las Vegas.

No local services are scheduled. Burial will be in California. Hites Funeral Services, 438 W. Sunset Road, Henderson, is handling arrangements.

Fern Herbst

Fern Herbst, 91, of Las Vegas died Wednesday in a local care center. She was born July 31, 1909, in Shoshone, Wyo. A resident for 26 years, she was a homemaker and an artist, a past worthy matron of the Point Loma, Calif., Masonic Lodge.

She is survived by one daughter, Marjorie Love Bull of Las Vegas; three grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and three great great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be 4 p.m. Saturday in Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave. Burial will be in Palm Valley View Memorial Park.

Maurice Hines

Maurice Hines, 63, of Las Vegas died Monday in a local hospital. He was born Feb. 10, 1938, in Carthage, Ark. A resident for 42 years, he was an officer for the North Las Vegas Police Department.

He is survived by his wife, Estella; three daughters, Cynthia Johnson of North Las Vegas, Valerie Allen of Pennsylvania and Doretha Scott of Las Vegas; two sons, Eric Hines and Rory Hines, both of North Las Vegas; two brothers, Bruce Sloane of Las Vegas and Bobby E. Sloane of Texas; one sister, Patricia Wickliff of Las Vegas; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled 2-8 p.m. Friday in American Burial and Cremation Services, 310 Foremaster Lane. Services will be 1 p.m. Saturday in Portals to Glory Church of God in Christ, 2301 Comstock Drive. Burial will follow in Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 1900 Buchanan Blvd., Boulder City.

Doloris 'Dot' Johnson

Doloris "Dot" Johnson, 79, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in a local hospice. She was born Aug. 30, 1921, in Minneapolis. A resident for 10 years, she was a homemaker.

She is survived by one daughter, Patricia Mendoza of West Covina, Calif.; one son, Bruce Johnson of Oregon; one brother, Richard Spatz of Australia; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled noon-7 p.m. Friday in Palm Mortuary, 1325 N. Main St. Services will be 2 p.m. Saturday in Palm Chapel, Main. Burial will follow in Palm Memorial Park.

Sophie D. Keebler, 85, of Las Vegas died Monday in Las Vegas. She was born Oct. 17, 1915, in Illinois. A resident for three years, she was a homemaker.

She is survived by three daughters, Lorraine Hastings and Loretta Brenn, both of Las Vegas and Patricia Smith of Little Elm, Texas; one sister, Charlotte Dudek of Missouri; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled 9 a.m. until a 10:45 a.m. blessing and prayer service in Bunkers Mortuary Meadows Room, 925 Las Vegas Blvd. North. Burial will be private.

Lucille C. Leds

Lucille C. Leds, 83, of Las Vegas died Wednesday in Las Vegas. She was born Dec. 13, 1917, in Texas. A longtime resident, she was a homemaker.

She is survived by one daughter, Theresa DeHoyds of San Antonio.

Leo Lewis

Leo Lewis, 70, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in a local hospital. He was born Aug. 24, 1930, in Long Island, N.Y. A resident for 45 years, he was a retired executive at the Barbary Coast hotel-casino for 15 years.

He is survived by two daughters, Linda S. Lewis and Lydia F. Clarke, and one son, Larry S. Lewis, all of Las Vegas; two sisters, Rose Solomon and Charlotte Kuzins, both of Los Angeles; and two grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. services Saturday in Palm Mortuary, 7400 W. Cheyenne Ave.

Harold Wesley Lytel, 67, of Las Vegas died Monday in a local hospital. He was born April 18, 1934, in Bradford, Pa. A resident for 30 years, he was a mechanical design engineer for 35 years and an Army staff sergeant.

He is survived by three daughters, Lisa Kelso of Las Vegas, Linda Barker of Bradenton, Fla., and Laura Hays of Paxton, Ill.; one son, Larry Lytel of Las Vegas; one sister, Patricia Bergman of Woodland Hills, Calif.; five grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Marilyn Madden

Marilyn Madden, 58, of Las Vegas died Friday in Las Vegas. She was born Sept. 13, 1942, in Chicago. A resident for five years, she was a secretary.

She is survived by her mother, Dorothy Baltz of Las Vegas; and two brothers, Donald Baltz of Las Vegas and Jack Baltz of Elmhurst, Fla.

Leonard Michalski

Leonard Michalski, 75, of Las Vegas died June 26 in a local hospital. He was born March 10, 1925, in Detroit. A resident for nine years, he was a retired bartender.

He is survived by one sister, Virginia Mancina of Dearborn Heights, Mich.

Robert V. Mihlfried

Robert V. Mihlfried, 73, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in Las Vegas. He was born Sept. 18, 1927, in Latrobe, Pa. A resident for eight years, he was a retired truck driver and a World War II Navy veteran.

He is survived by his wife, Lillian; one son, Robert J. Mihlfried of Chicago; one daughter, Donna Bondeson of Las Vegas; one sister, Jane Christopher of Blairsville, Pa.; and four grandchildren.

Irene Sesko, 75, of Las Vegas died Saturday in Las Vegas. She was born Nov. 10, 1925, in Pennsylvania. A resident for 31 years, she was a homemaker.

She is survived by her husband, Arnold; one son, Mike Sesko; one daughter, Cheri Sesko; seven grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

Gloria Shepard

Gloria Shepard, 53, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in a local hospice. She was born Oct. 5, 1947, in Erie, Pa. A resident for 20 years, she was a retired graphic artist and a member of the Silver State Kennel Club and Beta Sigma Phi.

She is survived by her husband, Robert J. Senor; two stepdaughters, Toni L'Homme of Las Vegas and Lori Cloyd of Tucson, Ariz.; three stepsons, Robert M. Senor and Daniel R. Senor, both of Las Vegas and Michael R. Senor of Tucson; one brother, Robert H. Keiper, and one sister, Joyce Keiper, both of Erie; eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

American Cremation and Burial Services, 310 Foremaster Lane is handling arrangements.

Susan Marie Silverhawk, 54, of Las Vegas died Monday in North Las Vegas. She was born March 13, 1947, in Florida. A resident for six years, she was a property manager.

She is survived by her husband, Michael; two daughters, Laura Galipeau and Lisa Whitney, both of Fort Walton Beach, Fla.; one brother, Ronald Mayo, and one sister, Linda Harrison, both of Tallahassee, Fla.; and four grandchildren.

Phyllis Jensen Wardle

Phyllis Jensen Wardle, 80, of North Las Vegas died Tuesday in Longmont, Colo. She was born June 29, 1921, in Neola, Utah. A resident for 32 years, she was an elementary school teacher and a member of the Clark County School District.

She is survived by four sons, Allen Wardle of Tremonton, Utah, Laron Wardle and Stan Wardle, both of Las Vegas and Jim Wardle of Chicago; two daughters, Ruth Anderson of Mead, Colo., and Howard Wardle of Las Vegas; three brothers, Lee Jensen of Neola, Ray Jensen of Kearns, Utah, and Neill Jensen of Kearns, Utah; 26 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled 90 minutes prior to an 11 a.m. service Monday in the Civic Center/Tonopah LDS Chapel. Burial will be in Utah. Bunkers Mortuary, 925 Las Vegas Blvd. North, is handling arrangements.
