Parking fines made convenient

Las Vegas Valley residents now have the option of paying their parking fines over the Internet.

The city's Information Technologies Department is offering a new feature that allows people to pay their parking tickets electronically, to help cut down on long lines at City Hall.

The payment application can be found at http://ci.las-vegas.nv.us/payticket. The fine can be paid by using a VISA or MasterCard credit card.

For additional information, e-mail the Municipal Parking Program at parkingticket@ci.las-vegas.nv.us.

Rehabilitation scheduled

Dexter Park will soon see some much-needed improvements.

The City Council has awarded a construction bid to CG&B Enterprises, Inc. for the rehabilitation of the park in City Councilman Michael McDonald's ward.

The $484,947 contract will include the demolition and new construction of a restroom facility. The contractors will also purchase new playground equipment, sand, picnic tables, and sod.

The park is located at the northwest corner of Trent Avenue and Upland Boulevard.

Company failed to meet obligation

The city will repurchase 2 acres of land in the Las Vegas Technology Center it sold to a company that failed to meet its obligations.

Han-Bo Nevada Inc. entered into an agreement with the city to purchase the land in 1995 for $364,860. Construction was to begin in 1998 and was required to be completed in January 2000.

According to the city, there has been no construction on the site for the project and the agreement has defaulted.

Emergency call response

To help respond to emergency calls throughout the city of Las Vegas, the Fire & Rescue Department will soon have two new vehicles.

The city will purchase two 2001 Freightliner Road Rescue units for $323,418 to be used by the fire department.

Negotiations to continue

After rejecting their first financial proposal, the city will continue negotiating with the developers of a downtown furniture mart to discuss a potential tax break.

A new proposal will be heard by the City Council Aug. 1.
