Seven business people and elected officials have been appointed to the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority board of directors, but one is likely to be replaced.
Reappointed to two-year terms on the 13-member board were Henderson Mayor James Gibson and North Las Vegas Mayor Michael Montandon, while Mesquite Councilman Cresent Hardy joined the board in a slot shared by Mesquite and Boulder City.
Las Vegas Chamber of Commerce nominees Robert Forbuss of Strategic Alliances LLC and Edward Crispell of the Imperial Palace hotel-casino were reappointed as were Nevada Resort Association nominees William McBeath of MGM MIRAGE and Mark Dodson of Park Place Entertainment.
Dodson, an executive vice president at Park Place, announced his resignation from that position hours after being sworn in to the LVCVA board. LVCVA spokesman Rob Powers said the Nevada Resort Association would nominate a new representative to the board.
