UNLV backup arrested following traffic stop

George Gordon, a reserve running back at UNLV, was arrested Sunday night on a misdemeanor charge of driving without a valid license, according to the Nevada Highway Patrol.

After Gordon had been pulled over, a passenger riding with Gordon, Steve Bullock, dashed across U.S. Highway 95 and was struck by another vehicle. He was taken to University Medical Center and was listed in critical condition with a broken arm and other injuries.

A gun and GHB, the so-called date rape drug, was found in a bag in the car. But Gordon was charged only with traffic-related offenses.

Gordon, a Las Vegan who played his high school ball at Eldorado, appeared in seven games last year, carrying the ball three times.
