Reno losing Chicago, Los Angeles flights

RENO -- American Airlines is dropping two more flights from Reno.
One flight to Chicago and another to Los Angeles will be cut Oct. 1, the airline announced Thursday. That will bring to 20 the total number of flights the airline has dropped to Reno in the past year.
John Hotard, an airline spokesman in Dallas, said Reno is among 13 cities that will lose at least one flight.
The airline has already informed Wall Street of second-quarter losses, to be announced next week, of more than $100 million for the quarter ending June 30.
"American is going to announce next week a good-size second-quarter loss, so we are looking to seek where we can deploy our assets ... to where they will be most profitable," Hotard said.
The airline will retain two flights to Chicago and four to Los Angeles.
