Letter: CAT bus lines well-kept secret at McCarran
Friday, July 13, 2001 | 10:11 a.m.
When you arrive at the airport, the best and least expensive transportation alternative is hidden from the public.
There is plenty of signage to rental cars, taxis and the shuttle services. Hidden from any signage is the excellent bus service for the routes No. 108 (downtown via Swenson, Paradise, and Main), and No. 109 (downtown via Maryland Parkway) to downtown with good connections to other transit routes along the way.
The only sign one finds is a small sign where the bus actually stops, at the zero level to the far right when you exit the building at the bottom of the elevators. Why is this frequent and excellent service so undersigned? Is it forgetfulness on the part of the airport authorities, insufficient budget, or is it pressure from the shuttle or taxi industries, or is it the lack of a special fee paid by the CAT bus system? An investigation is in order.
