Walter Alex Jr.
Walter Alex Jr., 53, of Las Vegas died Wednesday in a local hospice. He was born April 12, 1948, in St. Joseph, La. A resident for 34 years, he was a hotel porter.
He is survived by his wife, Lee Joyce; one daughter, Mickale Abbington of Las Vegas; four brothers, Ivory Alex of North Las Vegas, Joseph Alex of Seattle, Roy Dan Alex of Las Vegas and Doc Alex of Everett, Wash.; two sisters, Charlotte Simpson and Brenda Johnson, both of North Las Vegas; and three grandchildren.
Visitation is scheduled 3-8 p.m. Friday in American Burial and Cremation Services, 310 Foremaster Lane. Services will be 1 p.m. Saturday in Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, 1189 W. Hassell Ave. Burial will be private.
Maceo Edward Anderson
Maceo Edward Anderson, 90, of Las Vegas died Thursday in Las Vegas. He was born Sept. 3, 1910, in the Bronx, N.Y. A resident for 38 years, he was a retired entertainer who formed the group known as the Four Step Brothers.
He is survived by his wife, Mary; one stepdaughter, Cynthia Jones, and one stepson, Steve Notz, both of Las Vegas; and two grandchildren.
Visitation is scheduled 2-7 p.m. Monday in Palm Mortuary, 800 S. Boulder Highway, Henderson. Services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday in Palm Chapel, Henderson. Burial will follow in Palm Memorial Park, Henderson.
Max Anderson
Max Anderson, 79, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in Las Vegas. He was born July 4, 1922, in Greensburg, Ind. A resident for 15 years, he was a retired hospital administrator, a vocalist and musician and a World War II Navy veteran.
He is survived by his wife, Sarah; one daughter, Kim Alyn Anderson Knochelman of Park Hills, Ky.; and one grandchild.
Davis Paradise Valley Funeral Home, 6200 S. Eastern Ave., is handling arrangements.
Lawrence G. Bolden
Lawrence G. Bolden, 73, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in a local hospice. He was born Aug. 9, 1927, in Roselle, N.J. A resident for 11 years, he was a retired floor coverer, a World War II Air Force veteran and a member of the Masons.
He is survived by his wife, Velma Louise; two daughters, Laurie Collins of Plainfield, N.J., and Kimberley Holden of Hawthorne, Calif.; two sisters, Margaret Cabell of Roselle and Ezola Adams of Atlanta; one brother, James Bolden of Albuquerque, N.M.; and five grandchildren.
Visitation is scheduled 1-7 p.m. Friday in Palm Mortuary, 7400 W. Cheyenne Ave. Services will be 3 p.m. Saturday in Palm Chapel, Cheyenne. Burial will be in New Jersey.
The family suggests donations to any charity that benefits veterans.
Josephine Bowie
Josephine Bowie, 64, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in Las Vegas. She was born Sept. 25, 1936, in Mississippi. A resident for 45 years, she was a homemaker.
She is survived by two sons, Frankie Stingley and Jerry Stingley, and one daughter, Niesha Stingley, all of Las Vegas; two sisters, Hatti Cooper of Las Vegas and Annie Lois of Illinois; and numerous grandchildren.
Visitation is scheduled 1-5 p.m. Sunday in Bunkers Mortuary, 925 Las Vegas Blvd. North. Services will be 11 a.m. Monday in Bethel Baptist Church, 400 W. Adams St.
Joye K. Brevik
Joye K. Brevik, 81, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in a local hospital. She was born Nov. 28, 1919, in Altus, Okla. A resident for 37 years, she was a retired counselor at a school for girls and active in community and senior citizen activities.
She is survived by two daughters, Mary Janyee Voester of Santa Rosa, Calif., and Carla Joye Glenn of Las Vegas; eight grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be 1 p.m. Saturday in Palm Mortuary, 1325 N. Main St. Burial will be private.

Nicole Campbell
Nicole Campbell, 27, of North Las Vegas died Monday in North Las Vegas. She was born March 4, 1974, in Las Vegas. A lifelong resident, she was a homemaker.
She is survived by her husband, Lionel; one son, Lionel Campbell III, her father, Joseph R. Rivera, her mother, Elizabeth Campos, her biological mother and stepfather, Elva and Patrick Bressman, one sister, Kenna Civil, and one brother, Raymond Rivera, all of Las Vegas.
Visitation is scheduled 2-7 p.m. today in Palm Mortuary, 1325 N. Main St. Services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday in Palm Chapel, Main. Burial will be noon Friday in Woodlawn Cemetery.
Elda Ione Chodoruk
Elda Ione Chodoruk, 79, of Las Vegas died Sunday in Las Vegas. She was born Jan. 28, 1922, in Miles City, Mont. A resident for 56 years, she was a hotel host and member of the Culinary Union.
She is survived by one brother, Jesse Dee Hartman Jr. of Hamilton, Mont.; and one nephew, Thomas Hartman of Las Vegas.
Visitation is scheduled 30 minutes prior to 1 p.m. services Friday in Bunkers Mortuary, 925 Las Vegas Blvd. North. Burial will follow in Eden Vale Memorial Park.
Kathryn E. Field
Kathryn E. Field, 77, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in a local hospital. She was born Oct. 16, 1923, in Kentwood, La. A resident for eight years, she was a retired wage administrator for a gas pipeline company.
She is survived by one sister, Betty Spencer of Las Vegas; and one brother, Yates Field of San Antonio.

Carrie Fletcher
Carrie Fletcher, 94, of North Las Vegas died Tuesday in North Las Vegas. She was born Nov. 26, 1906, in Tallulah, La. A resident for 53 years, she was a laundry worker and a member of the Pilgrim Christian Society for more than 30 years.
She is survived by one sister, Lezzola Dixon of Mount Vernon, N.Y.

Ruth A. Furst, 73, of Las Vegas died Monday in Las Vegas. She was born Sept. 17, 1927, in Cleveland. A resident for 11 years, she was a homemaker.
She is survived by her husband, James P. Sr.; three daughters, Theresa Schaffer of Los Angeles, Janice Slater of Ridgecrest, Calif., and Sharon Swayne of Austin, Texas; three sons, James P. Furst Jr. of Montrose, Calif., Michael Albert Furst of Florida and James P. Furst III of Las Vegas; her mother, Philomena Kleinhenz of Avon, Ohio; nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Visitation is scheduled 9-10 a.m. Friday in Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave. Graveside services will follow in Palm Valley View Memorial Park.

Harry L. Hannahs, 77, of Las Vegas died Friday in Las Vegas. A computer analyst and an Army veteran, he was born July 26, 1923, in Quaker City, Ohio.
He is survived by his wife, Irene; one son, Edward Hannahs of Tennessee; one sister, Freida Butler of Virginia; and two grandchildren.

Arvid Leon Holm
Arvid Leon Holm, 71, of Las Vegas died Monday in Las Vegas. He was born May 21, 1930, in Glenrock, Wyo. A resident for eight years, he was a retail clerk, a Navy veteran, a member of the Retail Clerks Union and the American Legion.
He is survived by his wife, Marie; four sons, Arvid Holm of Las Vegas, Charles Holm and Edward Holm, both of Winton, Calif., and Walter Holm of Duarte, Calif.; three daughters, Kristina Zolman and Margaret Holm, both of LaVerne, Calif., and Lucille Olsen of Pico Rivera, Calif.; one stepson, Dane Kelley of Waynesboro, Va.; one stepdaughter, Jackie Ann Gossett of Merced, Calif.; one sister, Marge Nagel of Portland, Ore.; 17 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be 12:30 p.m. Friday in Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Boulder City. Nevada Funeral Service-Nevada Cremation or Burial Society, 2983 Fremont St., is handling arrangements.
Dannie Jackson
Dannie Jackson, 35, of Las Vegas died Monday in Las Vegas. He was born Dec. 29, 1965, in Las Vegas. A lifelong resident, he was a rental company superintendent.
He is survived by his wife, Denise; one son, Dannie Jackson, one daughter, Reilly Anne Jackson, and one stepdaughter, Chastity West, all of Las Vegas; his mother and stepfather, Roy and Shirley White of North Las Vegas; two sisters, Deborah Jackson and Leza Testa, both of Las Vegas; and her great-grandmother, Fern Weldin of Denver.
Visitation is scheduled 10-11 a.m. Friday in Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave. Graveside services will follow in Palm Valley View Memorial Park.

Herbert Jackson, 61, of Las Vegas died Friday in Albuquerque, N.M. He was born Dec. 6, 1939, in Terre Haute, Ind. A resident for 36 years, he was a slot machine mechanic.
He is survived by three daughters, Denise Jackson and Darla Jackson, both of Wichita, Kan., and Dana Corp of Virginia; one son, David Jackson of Wichita; two brothers, Roy Jackson of Las Vegas and Thornton Jackson of Auburn, Calif.; one sister, Sharon Pool of Las Vegas; and six grandchildren.
Visitation is scheduled 11 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday in Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave. Burial will follow in Palm Valley View Memorial Park.
William Marin
William Marin, 81, of Henderson died Tuesday in Henderson. A designer and World War II veteran, he was born Dec. 27, 1919, in Pittsburgh.
He is survived by one daughter, Lena Jo Marin of Henderson.

Russell C. O'Ja Jr.
Russell C. O'Ja Jr., 52, of Las Vegas died Monday in Las Vegas. He was born May 21, 1949, in San Antonio. A resident for one year, he was a real estate agent.
He is survived by one son, Russell O'Ja III of Marysville, Wash.; his father, Russell O'Ja Sr., and one sister, Nancy Masten, both of Las Vegas.
A memorial service will be 4 p.m. Tuesday in Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave.
Earl M. Parker Jr.
Earl M. Parker Jr., 66, of Las Vegas died Monday in Las Vegas. A computer specialist, he was born Oct. 6, 1934, in Tennessee.
He is survived by one brother, Sidney Parker of Pekin, Ill.

Richard R. Renstrom
Richard R. Renstrom, 90, of Las Vegas died Sunday in Las Vegas. A chemical engineer in construction design, he was born March 14, 1911, in Chicago.
He is survived by one daughter, Katherine Renstrom of Las Vegas; and two grandchildren.

Hyrum G. Riggs, 78, of Las Vegas died Monday in Las Vegas. He was born Oct. 21, 1922, in Vernon, Ariz. A resident for 40 years, he was a retired carpenter, a World War II Army veteran and a member of the Carpenters Union.
He is survived by two daughters, Diana Riggs Simkins of Cedar City, Utah, and Susan Riggs Robison of Layton, Utah; one son, Jim Riggs of Las Vegas; two sisters, Ravae Ramsey of Las Vegas and Verna Mae Boss of Ogden, Utah; one brother, Alfred Braunburger of Kerns, Utah; and nine grandchildren.
Visitation is scheduled 6:30-8 p.m. Friday in Palm Mortuary, 1600 S. Jones Blvd. Additional visitation is scheduled one hour prior to 10 a.m. services Saturday in the Alta and Jones LDS chapel.

Florence M. Rubens, 83, of Las Vegas died Wednesday in a local hospital. She was born June 21, 1918, in Chicago. A resident for 23 years, she was an executive assistant in the entertainment industry.
She is survived by one daughter, Diane Silva of Las Vegas; two granddaughters and four great-grandchildren.

Mary Crowell Scott
Mary Crowell Scott, 88, of Las Vegas died Monday in Las Vegas. A secretary for the state of Florida, she was born Aug. 25, 1912, in Georgia.
She is survived by one daughter, Rosalyn Tatro of Las Vegas; eight grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
Services and burial will be in Tallahassee, Fla. Bunkers Mortuary, 925 Las Vegas Blvd. North, is handling arrangements.
Belle Shapiro
Belle Shapiro, 82, of Las Vegas died Saturday in Las Vegas. She was born Nov. 18, 1918, in New York. A resident for 30 years, she was a homemaker.
She is survived by one son, Cliff Shapiro of Guatamala; two sisters, Shirley Shapiro of San Diego and Dorothy Sarzon of Niesa, Ore.; and one grandchild.

Carrol 'C.J.' Stratton
Carrol "C.J." Stratton, 80, of Boulder City died Wednesday in a local hospital. He was born July 27, 1920, in Menomonie, Wis. A resident for 39 years, he was a retired maintenance man for the National Park Service, a World War II Army Air Corps veteran, a member of the American Legion, a lifetime member of the Disabled American Veterans, Boulder City Elks Lodge and Veterans of Foreign Wars.
He is survived by his wife, Gloria; three daughters, Eileen Lockwood of Eatonville, Wash., Jennifer Hankins of Seattle and Carla Poole of Madison, Wis.; one son, Kent Hamilton of Rathdrum, Idaho; three sisters, Ruth Quigley of St. Anne, Ill., Gene Ziegler of Forest City, Ark., and Nancy Doane of Menominie; two brothers, Richard Stratton of Escondido, Calif., and Robert Stratton of Menominie; and 13 grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife, Virginia; one daughter, Juanita Ortiz of Las Vegas; three sons, Ricardo Ureno of Palmdale, Calif., and Bernardo Ureno and Emiliano Ureno Jr., both of Las Vegas; his mother, Juana Acevedo of Mexico; eight sisters, Esperanza Gamboa of Henderson, Hermelinda Colon of Sandy Valley, Belen Perez and Delia Carrillo, both of Las Vegas, Maria Perez of Canoga Park, Calif., Rosa Rios of Van Nuys, Calif., and Florinda Mejia and Aurora Ortiz, both of Mexico; three brothers, Gilberto Ureno of Las Vegas and Alfredo Ureno and Guillermo Ureno, both of Mexico; and 14 grandchildren.
