A Phoenix construction company said it received a contract to supply nearly 4,000 tons of structural steel for the Venetian's expansion project.
Schuff International Inc. said it will begin work on its portion of the project in November 2001 and complete its work in February 2002. The 13-story tower will sit atop the Venetian's 10-story parking garage.
Venetian officials have previously indicated between $175 million and $200 million will be spent on the tower's construction, though financing for the project apparently is still being arranged.
The Venetian indicated in its last financial report that the expansion will consist of 1,000 rooms, a 1,000-space parking garage and 100,000 square feet of meeting space. A timetable has yet to be provided, though it is believed the project will be completed in the fall of 2002.
