Teamsters vow more pickets at AC Caesars

Monday, July 9, 2001 | 10:53 a.m.

ATLANTIC CITY -- Striking slot attendants from Caesars Atlantic City casino promise more demonstrations until a contract dispute is settled.

Members of Teamsters Local 331 have been on strike since last Monday, when the union rejected the casino's offer of a 10-cent raise.

The union picketed casino entrances Saturday. The Teamsters and other union members also formed a caravan of about 100 vehicles that circled the casino.

Local president Joseph Yeoman said nonunion workers were offered a 40-cent raise and accused the casino of trying to break the union, which represents 195 slot attendants.

Park Place Entertainment Corp. of Las Vegas, which owns the casino, said the strike was not affecting business. The company said the casino was fully staffed with replacement employees.
