FRESNO, Calif. -- Fresno pitcher Kurt Ainsworth entered Thursday night's game against Las Vegas batting .000, hitless in 14 at-bats this season.
But after going 2-for-2 and driving in two runs in the Grizzlies' 10-7 victory over the 51s at Beiden Field, Ainsworth raised his average all the way to .125.
Ainsworth also picked up his sixth victory in 13 decisions this year as Fresno (41-44) moved back to within a game of first-place Las Vegas (44-45) in the Pacific Coast League's South Division, snapping the 51s' five-game win streak.
The teams resume their series tonight at 7:15 with 51s knuckleballer Dennis Springer (3-4, 4.08 ERA), a Fresno native who was hammered in his last homecoming, opposing right-hander Julio Santana (6-4, 5.40).
