Letter: Who’ll pay for military aid?

Thursday, July 5, 2001 | 9:09 a.m.

Our government officials pledge our assistance militarily to stabilize a conflict as we did in Korea, Vietnam, Kuwait, etc.

Because of the destruction our bombing did to Yugoslavia, President Bush's administration has pledged $181 million to help rebuild this country.

Is this to say that President Clinton's administration was wrong in involving the United States in this conflict?

What funds will this money come from? Social Security and Medicare funds or from the Federal Employees Retirement Plan in which our congressmen and senators and retired presidents draw their retirement from, which is a much better plan than Social Security. I'd give odds that it's not coming from the federal employees' fund. It would be interesting to know how this plan is funded. We know how Social Security and Medicare are.
