The price was not disclosed.
Peninsula Gaming Partners LLC said it would manage the current track, located near Lafayette, and build the new facility in St. Landry Parish. William Trotter, a Lafayette businessman, will retain the other 50 percent stake, the company said.
The deal must be approved by the Louisiana State Racing Commission and a slot machine license must be approved by the Louisiana Gaming Control Board.
Peninsula Gaming owns and operates the Diamond Jo riverboat casino in Dubuque, Iowa.
The sale is the second recent deal involving Louisiana race tracks that have received authority to offer slot machines. Delta Downs at Vinton was sold earlier this year by Shawn Scott to casino operator Boyd Gaming Corp. of Las Vegas.
