Whitney Ranch center to host workshop
The Whitney Ranch Recreation Center will host a creative workshop, "Art, Wire, Metal and More," noon- 2:30 p.m. Friday at 1575 Galleria Drive.
Participation is $28 per person (ages 16 and up) with an additional $15 for supplies due at class.
The instructor will teach participants how to create a variety of decorative items using solid copper wire, tubular metal, stained glass and sheet copper. Participants will each make one project of their choice: a 24-inch copper garden sun sconce with votive candle, a 26-inch copper gazing globe stand, or stained glass and copper ornaments.

Golf event benefits youth association
Cox Communications will be the title sponsor of the first 24-Hour Golf Marathon benefiting the Southern Nevada Inner City Youth Golf Association noon to noon Monday through Tuesday at Angel Park Golf Club's Cloud Nine course.
The event will be a traditional marathon in which the players are asked to solicit friends and family for pledges per hole. The event is broken up into four, six-hour shifts and players may choose up to four shifts in which to participate.
Free food and beverages will be provided to all players for the entire event, and Ruth's Chris Steakhouse will host a hospitality luncheon following the final shift where trophies and raffle prizes will be awarded.

Events to help burn foundation, MASH
Scandals Salon and Spa will host a "Salon-a-Thon" to benefit the Clark County Firefighters Burn Foundation and MASH Village 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Sunday at 4001 S. Decatur Blvd.
The hairstylists, manicurists, estiticians and massage therapists of Scandals will be donating their time and services to benefit the two local charities. Services offered include manicures for only $5, haircuts for $10, 20-minute massages for $20 and much more.

The University of Nevada Cooperative Extension program

Screenwriter and producer
