A 45-year-old Las Vegas resident was killed last month during the construction of a tribal casino in Southern California, the Press-Enterprise of Riverside, Calif., reported.
Guenther George Gruber, a service technician mechanic with Lewis Equipment of Henderson, died when a counterweight used in an equipment lift fell on him at the construction site located on the Pechanga Reservation.
No other workers were injured.
Construction was halted after the accident, which will be investigated by the federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration.
The reservation is located about halfway between Los Angeles and San Diego in southwest Riverside County.
The Temecula Band of Luiseno Indians has been operating a casino there since 1995.
