Retailer sticking with Nevada
Wednesday, Jan. 31, 2001 | 11:08 a.m.
OfficeMax Inc. said it won't close any of its 12 stores in Nevada despite a plan to close 50 stores nationwide and cut 1,200 jobs.
The Ohio-based company said it has nine stores with about 315 employees and a warehouse with another 100-plus workers in Las Vegas. It also has two stores in Reno and one in Elko.
OfficeMax blamed the "far-reaching consumer slowdown" and winter storms in the Northeast and Midwest for its poor performance.
