Letter: Anti-Yucca side is right cause, won’t prevail
Wednesday, Jan. 31, 2001 | 9:44 a.m.
Poor Brian Greenspun. I admire his fight for what he thinks is right, but on the Yucca Mountain waste fight, he is fighting a losing battle. I agree with him 100 percent, but with the power of the gaming industry, they just have too much power.
Several months ago, dear old Ruthe Deskin stated in her column that she would sure like to have a Republican senator. Well, she got her wish through the millions of dollars the gaming industry flooded John Ensign with; any clown could get elected.
So now that they helped turn our government into a right-wing extremist outfit, they have no reason to worry about nuclear waste, as that green stuff is their main worry.
They knew when they were showering all that money on the Republicans who was pushing the bill to outlaw betting on college sports, and pushing the bill to dump the waste at Yucca Mountain. But they still kept pouring the money to the Republicans. Go figure!
And now a couple of them are going bankrupt, and it is just breaking my heart.
