15th annual ball set for Aladdin

The American Heart Association will hold its 15th annual Heart of Gold Ball at 7 p.m. Saturday at the Aladdin.

The black tie event is expected to generate more than $225,000. Tickets are $200 per person. Tables of 10 are also available for $3,000.

A significant portion of the proceeds will benefit Las Vegas area research projects and further the outreach efforts of the American Heart Association's educational programs. RSVP to 367-1366.

5K will take place on Strip

The International Friendship Run 5K, a prelude to the 35th Las Vegas Marathon, will begin 6:30 a.m. Saturday.

The 5K run, for all ages, begins at the Venetian and will follow a course down the Las Vegas Strip. Pre-registration is encouraged but runners can register that morning at 6 a.m. Registration forms are available at lvmarathon.com or can be picked up Friday at the Health and Fitness Expo at the MGM Grand.

Registration is $20. All proceeds go to the Clark County Parks and Recreation Youth Program Development fund.

Thomas Krens, director of the Solomon R. Guggenheim Foundation,

will be the featured guest speaker at the Business and Professional Division special preview luncheon 11:45 a.m. Friday at the Venetian. For more information, call 732-0556.

Dr. David Martin,

an ear, nose and throat specialist, will discuss sinus-related problems and remedies 1 p.m. Friday at Valley Hospital Medical Center, 620 Shadow Lane. To register, call 388-4665.

A local graphic design company

was recently honored by the American Graphic Design Awards. Sabre Design and Publishing was recognized for a logo it designed for KidsCharities.org. The logo, known as the tree of life, was designed by company owners David and Christina Wilkinson.

Immunizations

Health District immunization clinics are open each week in Southern Nevada. Immunizations are provided without charge to children and young adults under the age of 21 in any of three public health centers and 15 satellite clinics. These clinics will be open Wednesday through Feb. 6:

RAVENHOLT PUBLIC HEALTH CENTER: 625 Shadow Lane, 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.

EAST LAS VEGAS PUBLIC HEALTH CENTER: 560 N. Nellis Blvd., Suite E12, 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.
