The company that owns Sunrise Hospital and Medical Center and MountainView Hospital plans to open a regional administrative office in Las Vegas.
Nashville, Tenn.-based HCA-The Healthcare Co. is expected to lease space for an administrative office to oversee billing and purchasing operations for the company's 18 hospitals in the West.
A spokeswoman said corporate officials will be here in the spring to consider locations for the office. It hasn't been determined how many jobs there will be in the regional office, said spokeswoman Ann Lynch, but a report by the Standard-Examiner newspaper in Ogden, Utah, put the number at 300.
The Standard-Examiner said HCA originally planned to open the regional office in Salt Lake City in 2003, but later decided on Las Vegas.
Earlier this month, HCA said it was investigating building a third hospital in Southern Nevada.
