Father faces charges
of The father of a 25-day-old boy was charged in connection with the death of his son.
Joaquin Perry-Edwards, 38, was booked into the Clark County jail Thursday on a charge of murder by child abuse, said Lt. Tom Monahan of Metro's sexual assault and abuse section.
Paramedics were called to a home in the 900 block of East Twain Avenue Tuesday and found 3-week-old Elijah Perry-Edwards dead.
Two identified
A man shot to death while he was driving a car Tuesday was identified as 28-year-old Duan T. Wilson of Las Vegas.
Wilson was found shot to death behind the wheel of a car that had run a red light on Smoke Ranch Road at Torrey Pines Drive and then crashed into a block wall, Metro Police said.
Also, a man gunned down in an apartment complex parking lot Wednesday was identified as 22-year-old Tony Reyes.
Reyes was found shot in the parking lot in the 1600 block of East Rochelle Avenue near Maryland Parkway. Reyes was taken to University Medical Center, where he died, police said.
Body found in desert
A couple walking their dog Thursday in the desert east of Las Vegas discovered the body of a man who appeared to have been shot to death.
The body was found at about 5 p.m. about three miles off State Route 147. Lake Mead Boulevard becomes State Route 147 about 3 miles past Hollywood Boulevard and the Eastern edge of Las Vegas.
Power outage:
A small animal that got into some wiring is being blamed for a Thursday afternoon power outage that affected about 2,000 Nevada Power customers and parts of UNLV.
Property recovered:
Henderson Police have recovered more than $35,000 in stolen property and have made an arrest in connection with several burglaries in the city over the last month.
Neonopolis under way:
Cranes began hoisting steel this week as framing got under way for the Neonopolis entertainment retail center.
