Letter: UNLV: An epic tale

Friday, Jan. 26, 2001 | 9:56 a.m.

In a rare departure from his aerie high in the western sky, Cavagnaro the Serene ventured to Miamiville in the Southland in his golden quest for the elusive Rick of Pitino. His orders from Queen Harter were not to engage in any jousting, but to establish detente with the ex-Celt warrior.

There were ominous signs of discontent from the local peasants as previous forays into the unknown had cost the village counsel millions of farthings. The local citizenry was in a state of wonderment as to the past debacles involving the Provence of Rebel. The quick demise of Weaver the Wanderer, James the Strong and Horton the Hero had left a bitter taste in the mouths of the local peasants. Money was tossed about like village confetti. The results were chaotic dealing with Massimino the Quick and Bayno the Brave.

The bouncing of balls during the next four years would exclude any jousting at provincial tournaments and travels to faraway kingdoms. Only the tact, wisdom and resourcefulness of Sir Max the Good left the citizenry with any sense of balance and hope.

Future hopes that the Kingdom of Rebel would not be left in disarray and at the mercy of the cold, ruthless money lenders was of paramount importance to the local gentry in the land of Red and Gray knights.
