Epicurean Awards honor Las Vegas’ finest
Wednesday, Jan. 24, 2001 | 4:50 a.m.
Las Vegas Life magazine will celebrate the winners of its Epicurean Awards 2001 with a grand bash tonight at the Four Seasons. The exclusive invitation-only event is a recognition of Las Vegas' ever-burgeoning wining and dining scene.
Las Vegas Life publisher Sharon Bates said the first Las Vegas Life Epicurean Awards were so well received it was decided to make it an annual event, and to have readers involved in choosing the winners. Las Vegas Life is a monthly magazine owned by the Greenspun Corporation, which also owns the Las Vegas Sun.
Host for tonight's event is Clint Holmes, the Harrah's Las Vegas headliner who emceed last year's awards.
Award winners in 20 categories, including four new categories, were selected by Las Vegas Life magazine readers, members of the local chapter of the Chaine des Rotisseurs, the local chapter of WineBrats and other local food mavens.
Categories and winners are (* denotes repeat category winner):
The winners, notified of their awards a few days ago, will attend a VIP reception prior to the awards party in the Four Seasons ballroom. The evening includes a hors d'oeuvre reception, the awards ceremony and an opportunity to mingle with a number of restaurant owners and celebrity chefs.
Restaurant and food winners receive a 10-inch engraved silver platter from Tiffany & Company; lounge and beverage winners receive an engraved silver cocktail shaker from Neiman Marcus. All 20 winners will receive an Epicurean Awards gift basket valued at approximately $500.
