HUDSON, Wis. -- The St. Croix County Board voted to oppose a proposed Indian casino at a dog track.
Supervisor Nancy Bieraugel said Tuesday's 22-7 vote essentially ended debate over the casino, which was proposed by a partnership of three tribes and the Florida owners of the St. Croix Meadows dog track.
She said the decision reflected the views of county residents.
"When you look at the 1,000-plus letters -- many of them long letters, passionate letters -- about this issue, you see the depth of the opposition to having a casino here," she said.
