Tiffany Averill

Tiffany Averill, 67, of Las Vegas died Monday in Las Vegas. She was born Aug. 19, 1933, in Philadelphia. A resident for 23 years, she was a homemaker.

She is survived by her husband, Russ; three sons, Bruce Averill of Las Vegas, Ron Averill of Townsend, Del., and John Averill of Indianola, Iowa; five daughters, Pamela West of Hartford, Conn., Susan Durnan of Townsend, Cheryl Jakubowski of Burns, Ore., and Tiffany Tramell and Jan Averill, both of Wilmington, Del.; seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Affordable Cremation and Burial Service, 2457 N. Decatur Blvd., handled arrangements.

Bill Barrett

Bill Barrett, 73, of Las Vegas died Monday in a local hospital. He was born Aug. 6, 1927, in Lawrence County, Ind. A resident for 12 years, he was a lawn mower shop owner and a World War II Army veteran.

He is survived by his wife, Margaret; two sons, Dale Barrett and Steve Barrett, both of Las Vegas; one brother, Charles Barrett of Shelbyville, Ind.; one sister, Pat Hobbickes of Scorpio, Ind.; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

A memorial service is scheduled 1:30 p.m. Saturday in Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave.

Charles Bennett

Charles Bennett, 70, of Boulder City died Dec. 19 in Boulder City. He was born March 10, 1930. A resident for five years, he was a taxicab driver.

Graveside services were scheduled at 10 a.m. today in Woodlawn Cemetery. Hites Funeral Services, 438 W. Sunset Road, Henderson, handled arrangements.

James Capasso

James Capasso, 48, of North Las Vegas died Wednesday in a local hospital. He was born July 6, 1952, in Pittsburgh. A resident for 23 years, he was a casino shift manager.

He is survived by his wife, Jody; two sons, Vincent Capasso and Joseph Capasso, and two daughters, Kara Capasso and Justine Capasso, all of Las Vegas; one sister, Dana Lovas of North Braddock, Pa.; and one brother, Fred Capasso of Murrysville, Pa.

A memorial service is scheduled 2 p.m. Saturday in Palm Mortuary, 7400 W. Cheyenne Ave.

Cynthia Caruthers

Cynthia Caruthers, 45, of Henderson died Wednesday in Henderson. She was born Oct. 4, 1955, in Dragerton, Utah. A resident of Las Vegas for 39 years, she was a personal fitness trainer.

She is survived by three sons, Christopher Caruthers, Daniel Caruthers and Nicholas Caruthers, all of Las Vegas; her mother and father, Dorothy and Thurman Sorensen of Hurricane, Utah; one sister, Linda Joyce Proctor of Ruidoso, N.M.; and one grandchild.

A memorial service is scheduled 11 a.m. Saturday in Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave. Palm Mortuary, 7400 W. Cheyenne Ave., is handling arrangements.

Mateo J. Cervantes

Mateo J. Cervantes, one month and 26 days old died Jan. 10 in Children's Hospital in Los Angeles. He was born Nov. 14 in Las Vegas.

He is survived by his parents, Jose G. and Sheri Cervantes of Las Vegas; three brothers, Joe Cervantes and Ron Cervantes, both of Orlando, Fla., and Joey Keith of Las Vegas; one sister, Nancy Cervantes of Wautoma, Wis.; and his grandparents, Jesusa Cervantes, Peggy Pacheco and Ernest and Marge Pacheco, all of Las Vegas.

A memorial service will be 8 a.m. Saturday in St. Joseph, Husband of Mary Catholic Church, 7260 W. Sahara Ave. Palm Mortuary, 7400 W. Cheyenne Ave., is handling arrangements.

Esther L. Cochran

Esther L. Cochran, 76, of Las Vegas died Thursday in Las Vegas. She was born April 2, 1924, in Ohio. A longtime resident, she was a homemaker.

She is survived by her husband, Viris.

Burial will be in Springfield. Hites Funeral Services, 438 W. Sunset Road, Henderson, is handling arrangements.

Elizabeth 'Beth' Edmondson

Elizabeth "Beth" Edmondson, 79, of North Las Vegas died Wednesday in a local hospital. She was born Nov. 19, 1921, in Dawson, N.M. A resident for 54 years, she was a homemaker and a volunteer for Nevada Special Olympics and the Boys Clubs of North Las Vegas.

She is survived by her husband, Bradley "Bunk"; two daughters, Sharon Edmondson of North Las Vegas and Susan Forti of Henderson; one son, Bob Edmondson of Las Vegas; two brothers, John Segotta of Raton, N.M., and Frank Segotta of Glendale, Ariz.; five sisters, Toni Carrollo, Josephine Riali, Katherine Watier, Mary Williston and Mildred Trueba, all of Raton; four grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Visitation will be from 2-7 p.m. today in Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave. Services are scheduled noon Saturday in St. Thomas More Catholic Church, 130 N. Pecos Road.

Gregory D. Farson

Gregory D. Farson, 45, of Las Vegas died Saturday in Las Vegas. He was born Feb. 22, 1955, in San Francisco. A resident for 20 years, he was a Vietnam War Army veteran.

He is survived by three sons, John Farson of Kirby, Ore., and Erik Farson and Scott Farson, both of Azle, Texas; his father, Teddy Farson of Las Vegas; two sisters, Lynda Lloyd of Las Vegas and Elisa Miller of North Little Rock, Ark.; and one brother, Timothy Farson of Kirby.

Virginia A. Gang

Virginia A. Gang, 83, of Las Vegas died Wednesday in Las Vegas. She was born March 28, 1917, in Kansas. A resident for 52 years, she was a retired attorney.

She is survived by one brother, Lawrence F. Miller of Las Vegas.

Private services will be handled by Affordable Cremation and Burial Service, 2457 N. Decatur Blvd.

David G. Haskell

David G. Haskell, 69, of Las Vegas died Saturday in Las Vegas. He was born May 1, 1931, in Oakland, Calif. He was a retired laborer for Ford Automotive.

He is survived by his wife, Beearmon; 11 stepchildren; two brothers, Alex and Charles Sheffield, both of San Jose, Calif.; two sisters, Ann Friedrich and Susan Miller, both of Monterey, Calif.; and 14 grandchildren.

Visitation continues until 7 p.m. today in Harrison-Ross Mortuaries, 2071 Las Vegas Blvd. North. Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday in Harrison-Ross Chapel. Burial will be private.

Douglas Kenneth Johnson

Douglas Kenneth Johnson, 58, of Henderson died Sunday in Henderson. He was born Jan. 18, 1942, in Minnesota. A resident for 12 years, he was the owner of a business forms company and an Army veteran.

He is survived by one son, Lance D. Streff, one daughter, Carol Oulin, and one brother, Randall Dulis, all of Chanhassen, Minn.; and two grandchildren.

Service will be in Hopkins, Minn. Hites Funeral Services, 438 W. Sunset Road, Henderson is handling arrangements.

Howard E. 'Sonny' Jones

Howard E. "Sonny" Jones, 68, of Las Vegas died Thursday. He was born June 23, 1932, in Portsmouth, Ohio. A resident for 18 years, he was a truck driver and a Korean War Navy and Army veteran.

He is survived by his wife, Debbie; one daughter, Marcia Sue Jones, and one son, Thomas Jones, both of North Las Vegas; two sisters, Saramargaret of Willardsberg, Ohio, and Katie McCain of El Paso, Texas; his former wife, Ruth Jones of North Las Vegas; 10 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be 1:30 p.m. Sunday in Palm Mortuary, 1325 N. Main St.

Michael P. Klecha

Michael P. Klecha, 78, of Las Vegas died Wednesday in a local hospice. He was born Feb. 23, 1922, in Haverhill, Mass. A resident for 30 years, he was a retired keno writer for the Stardust and a World War II Army veteran.

He is survived by two sisters, Nellie Nazzaro of Danbury, Conn., and Mildred Mancuso of Plant City, Fla.

Visitation will be one hour prior to 4 p.m. services in Palm Mortuary, 7400 W. Cheyenne Ave.

Fern Knoblock

Fern Knoblock, 76, of Las Vegas died Wednesday in Las Vegas. She was born June 24, 1924, in Michigan. A resident for 11 years, she was a homemaker.

She is survived by two daughters, Carol Kindler of Las Vegas and Bonnie Selthofner of Wisconsin; one son, Joseph Knoblock of Las Vegas; one brother, Budd LaBine, and two sisters, Rete Bugbee and Rachel Janjak, all of Michigan; 10 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be one hour prior to 4 p.m. services Saturday in Nevada Funeral Service, 2983 Fremont St. Burial will be in Wisconsin.

Nicholas Alexander Palmer

Nicholas Alexander Palmer, eight months, died Jan. 11 in California. He was born May 9, 2000.

He is survived by his mother, Rachel Palmer, and his father, Gary Thompson, both of Las Vegas; and his grandparents, Linda and Clifton Corbin of Henderson and Victoria Palmer of Las Vegas.

Graveside services were scheduled at 11 a.m. today in Palm Mortuary, 1325 N. Main St.

Frederick Pearson

Frederick Pearson, 67, of Las Vegas died Monday in a local hospital. He was born March 23, 1933, in Massachusetts. A resident for 36 years, he was an Air Force FTD instructor.

He is survived by his wife, Vivian; two daughters, Heidi Dee and Pracy Pearson; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Earnest C. Smith

Earnest C. Smith, 74, of Las Vegas died Sunday in Las Vegas. He was born Aug. 6, 1926, in Lisbon, La. A resident for 24 years, he was in the construction industry and a member of Local 872.

He is survived by six daughters, Earnestine Smith, Loretta Smith, Michelle Smith, Carolyn Shelton, Barbara Coleman and Patricia Garrett, all of Las Vegas; two sons, Michael Garrett of Las Vegas and Fulton Garrett Jr., of Tulsa Okla.; 11 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. Saturday in Grace Immanuel Baptist Church, 805 W. Bartlett Ave. Services are scheduled 2 p.m. Saturday in Grace Immanuel Baptist Church. Burial will be private. American Burial and Cremation Services, 310 Foremaster Lane, is handling arrangements.

Janie Mae Turner

Janie Mae Turner, 91, of Las Vegas died Jan. 3, in Las Vegas. She was born April 30, 1909, in Mississippi. A resident for many years, she was a homemaker.

She is survived by one daughter, Yolanda Nagy of Buda, Texas; and 10 grandchildren.

Orlando A. Vlases

Orlando A. Vlases, 72, of Las Vegas died Wednesday in a local hospice. He was born Sept. 16, 1928, in Pennsylvania. A resident for nine years, he was a retired electrical engineer for the U.S. government and a World War II Navy veteran.

He is survived by his mother, Catherine Noska of Bedford, Ohio; and four sisters, Helen Wilson of Las Vegas, Gloria Rable of Cortland, Ohio, Rosalie Petroff of Port Richey, Fla., and Loretta Adams of Santa Rosa, Calif.

Barbara B. Williams

Barbara B. Williams, 71, of Cottonwood Cove died Wednesday in Las Vegas. She was born Sept. 16, 1929, in Bedford, Ind. A resident for six years, she was a homemaker.

She is survived by her husband, Darrell; two daughters, Susan Newton of Ortonville, Mich., and Sharon Blankenbaker of Chattanooga, Tenn.; two sons, Darrell J. Williams and Brett Lee Williams, and one sister, Peggy Wishmire, all of Hemet, Calif.; six grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Vondaleair Williams-Carter, 47, of Las Vegas died Saturday in a local hospital. She was born Dec. 21, 1953, in Weirton, W.Va. A resident for 10 years, she was a telemarketing saleswoman.

She is survived by her husband, Claude; two daughters, Andrea C. Whitlock and Natashia Rivera, both of Las Vegas; her mother and stepfather, Elizabeth and Kenneth Blakely of Clovis, Calif.; two brothers, Samuel Williams Jr., and Tyrone Williams, both of Cleveland; nine sisters, Casandra Williams of Lorraine, Ohio, Dawn Williams and Olive Lashley, both of Clovis, Picola Williams, Althea Williams, Yolanda Phillip and Samantha Williams, all of Cleveland, Charla Carter of Parris, Calif., and Caryn Williams of Las Vegas; and five grandchildren.
