Helyn Arata
Helyn Arata, 83, of Las Vegas died Monday in a local hospital. She was born Aug. 27, 1917, in New York. A resident for 50 years, she was a homemaker.
She is survived by her husband, John.
Visitation is scheduled 12:30-1 p.m. Sunday in Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave. Graveside services will follow in Palm Valley View Memorial Park.
The family suggests donations to the Humane Society of Southern Nevada, P.O. Box 82022, Las Vegas, NV 89180-2022.
William Cheneowith Baker
William Cheneowith Baker, 73, of Las Vegas died Saturday in Las Vegas. He was born Jan. 24, 1927, in California. A resident for 13 years, he was a quality inspector for North American Rockwell and an Army veteran.
He is survived by one son, Stewart T. Baker; two daughters, Rhonda Gerth and Julie A. Dyer; and two grandchildren.

Ward Dean Berg
Ward Dean Berg of Las Vegas died Tuesday in Las Vegas. A resident for 18 years, he was a retired communications technician, a World War II Navy veteran, a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, a member of Desert Sands Pioneers and Senior Friends.
He is survived by his wife, Ann R.; three sons, John M. Berg and Robert Miller, both of Las Vegas, and Ward D. Berg Jr. of Arizona; two daughters, Hilary Chang and Diane Berg, both of Las Vegas; two brothers, Glen Phillips of Ohio and Paul Berg of Pennsylvania; 18 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Visitation is scheduled 4-7 p.m. today in Davis Paradise Valley Funeral Home, 6200 S. Eastern Ave. Services will be 10 a.m. Friday in Davis Paradise Valley Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Paradise Memorial Gardens.
William Brown
William Brown, 60, of Las Vegas died Wednesday in a local hospice. He was born Aug. 4, 1940. A resident for six years, he was a mechanic's helper.
He is survived by his wife, Priscilla; one son, William Brown Jr.; one daughter, Janet Brown; 13 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Vickie L. Bryant
Vickie L. Bryant, 43, of Las Vegas died Friday in a local hospital. She was born Feb. 27, 1957, in Clovis, N.M. A resident for one year, she was a customer service sales representative for a bank.
She is survived by two daughters, T'ahisha D. Foster and Nirissa L. Troutman, both of Las Vegas; one son, Enrico D. Foster of South Carolina; her mother, Shirley R. Jones of Harker Heights, Texas; two brothers, James E. Jones of South Carolina and Rickey D. Jones of Las Vegas; seven sisters, Laurice Galloway of Indianapolis, Cynthia McGants and Cindy Barnette, both of Las Vegas, Sheila Pettiford of North Carolina, Darlene Roberson, Ora Biles and JeTonne Jones, all of Maryland, and Clemmie McDaniels of Texas; and two grandchildren.
Visitation is scheduled 2-8 p.m. Friday in American Burial and Cremation Services, 310 Foremaster Lane. Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday in Ebenezer Church of God in Christ, 1072 W. Bartlett Ave. Burial will follow in Palm Memorial Park.
Dick Cowley
Dick Cowley, 56, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in a local hospital. He was born April 12, 1944, in Coalville, Utah. A resident for seven years, he was a civil engineer and a Vietnam War Navy veteran.
He is survived by three sons, Jesse Cowley and Patrick Cowley, both of Logan, Utah, and Bill Cowley of Las Vegas; three daughters, Barbara Williams, Marilynn Cowley and Christina Kennard, all of Logan; his parents, Samuel and Ruth K. Cowley of Morgan, Utah; one brother, Val Cowley of Logan; three sisters, Mary Kay Cowley of Ogden, Utah, Ruth Ann Camp of Hyde Park, Utah, and Carla Jones of Morgan; and seven grandchildren.

Audre M. Galloway
Audre M. Galloway, 67, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in a local hospital. A member of many civic organizations and business associations, she was born Aug. 7, 1933, in Colorado.
She is survived by two daughters, Karen Marconi and Shannon Rasmussen; her mother, Arline McGonegal; and three granddaughters.
A memorial service will be 1 p.m. Friday in First Church of Religious Science, 1420 E. Harmon Ave. Desert Memorial Cremation and Burial Society, 1111 Las Vegas Blvd. North, is handling arrangements.

Richard H. Harmon, 60, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in Las Vegas. He was born July 3, 1940, in Spring Valley, Ill. A resident for 25 years, he was self-employed in automatic pool covers and was an Army veteran.
He is survived by his wife, Mary; one daughter, Brenda Munari, and one son, Darren Harmon, both of Las Vegas; one brother, Dan Harmon, and one sister, Kay Tutaj, both of Mendota, Ill.; and three grandchildren.
Services will be 1 p.m. Friday in Davis Paradise Valley Funeral Home, 6200 S. Eastern Ave. Burial will follow in Paradise Memorial Gardens. Davis Funeral Home, 2127 W. Charleston Blvd., is handling arrangements.

Gladys G.S. Hayes, 94, of Las Vegas died Friday in Las Vegas. She was born April 1, 1906, in Winona, Texas. A resident for 43 years, she was a museum maintenance engineer.
She is survived by one brother, Carl King of Los Angeles; and one niece, Virginia Dougherty of Las Vegas.
Visitation is scheduled 1 p.m. Saturday in Bunkers Mortuary, 925 Las Vegas Blvd. North. Graveside services will follow in Eden Vale Memorial Park.
Dorothy M. Scott Hubbs
Dorothy M. Scott Hubbs, 79, of Las Vegas died Sunday in a local hospital. She was born June 14, 1921, in Tulsa, Okla. A resident for four years, she was a retired city government clerk.
She is survived by one daughter, Judy Bartlett of North Las Vegas; four grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

Robert Jackson Sr.
Robert Jackson Sr., 75, of Las Vegas died Friday in a local hospital. He was born Feb. 18, 1925, in Tallulah, La. A resident for 49 years, he was a retired laborer and a World War II Army veteran.
He is survived by 10 daughters, Vera Hartwell-Bean, Mattie Jackson, Patricia Jackson Wilmore, Diane Jackson, Rutha Jackson, Linda Shelby, Connie Jackson, Delores Jackson and Yvette Burrs, all of Las Vegas, and Carolyn Bevill of Henderson; two sons, Robert Jackson Jr. and Otis Jackson, both of Las Vegas; two sisters, Alma Farley of Sacramento and Irma Riggs of Las Vegas; three brothers, Ralph Jackson Jr. of Flint, Mich., Charlie Jackson Sr. of Las Vegas and Cornelius Jackson of Shreveport, La.; 24 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will continue until 7 p.m. today in Palm Mortuary, 1325 N. Main St. Services will be 11 a.m. Friday in Greater Carver Missionary Baptist Church. Graveside services will be 1:30 p.m. Friday in Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Boulder City.
Billy M. Jean
Billy M. Jean, 64, of Las Vegas died Monday in a local hospital. He was born Aug. 22, 1936, in Hamlin, Texas. A resident for 1 1/2 years, he was a retired Vietnam War Veteran, Army major and Air Force veteran.
He is survived by his wife, Janice; one daughter, Jena Gillam of Steelville, Mo.; one son, Timothy Jean of Waco, Texas; three sisters, Sara Thompson of Lubbock, Texas, Sue Butler of Abilene, Texas, and Nina Beazley of McKinney, Texas; and five grandchildren.
No local services are scheduled. Services will be in Texas. Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave., is handling arrangements.
Douglas Kenneth Johnson
Douglas Kenneth Johnson, 58, of Henderson died Monday in Henderson. He was born Jan. 18, 1942, in Minnesota. A resident for 12 years, he was the owner-operator of a company that supplied business forms.
He is survived by one son, Lance D. Streff, and one daughter, Carol Oulin, both of Chanhassen, Minn.
No local services are scheduled. Burial will be in Chanhassen. Hites Funeral Services, 438 W. Sunset Road, Henderson, is handling arrangements.
Gloria Jo Lancaster
Gloria Jo Lancaster, 67, of Las Vegas died Monday in a local hospice. She was born Oct. 11, 1933, in Mitchville, Iowa. A resident for 13 years, she was a waitress.
She is survived by two sons, James Thompson of Las Vegas and Mark Thompson of Titusville, Fla.; two daughters, Virginia Pepper of Fullerton, Calif., and Carmella Bowlin of Mesa, Ariz.; 10 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Song Cha "Nancy" Langley, 62, of Las Vegas died Saturday in a local hospital. She was born May 11, 1938, in Korea. A resident for 1 1/2 years, she was a homemaker.
She is survived by her husband, Harry; one son, Patrick Langley of Las Vegas; two brothers, Chang Hwan Kim and Chang Bok Kim, both of Portland, Ore.; and one grandchild.

Jacob Ellsworth Leaver
Jacob Ellsworth Leaver, 7 months, of St. Louis died Tuesday in St. Louis. He was born May 27, 2000, in St. Louis.
He is survived by his parents, Scott and Andrea Leaver of St. Louis; his grandparents, Bob and Mary Jane Leaver of Las Vegas and Brian and Tayva Patch of Provo, Utah; and his great-grandparents, Mary Johnston of Las Vegas and Robert and Adonna Patch of Provo.

James L. McClain, 72, of Las Vegas died Saturday in Las Vegas. He was born Oct. 1, 1928, in Whitley County, Ind. A resident for two years, he was a retired maintenance engineer, a Korean War Navy veteran and a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
He is survived by his wife, Harriet; three sons, Michael McClain, Christopher McClain and Steve McClain, all of Las Vegas; two daughters, Deborah Formica of Las Vegas and Sharyl Denny of Chino, Calif.; one sister, Mary Heron of Idaho; and four grandchildren.

W. Donovan "Don" Schutt, 70, of Henderson died Monday in a local hospice. He was born April 29, 1930, in Kodaikanal, India. A resident for nine years, he was a retired physicist.
He is survived by his wife, Judie; two sons, Galen Schutt and Timothy Schutt, both of Henderson; one daughter, Becky Hejka of Redlands, Calif.; and three grandchildren.

Carlene Mary Scott and Dick Scott
Carlene Mary Scott, 66, and Dick Scott, 59, of Sandy Valley died Saturday. She was born Oct. 3, 1934, in Oregon. He was born Dec. 8, 1941, in California. Residents for 14 years, she was a homemaker and he was a slot technician for the Gold Strike Casino.
She is survived by one sister, Kananii "Kim" Norman. He is survived by two brothers, Everett Scott and Jim Scott. They are both survived by one son, Richard Scott of Las Vegas; one daughter, Cindy Pippen of Phoenix; and four grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife, Nancy; one daughter, Tina Secco of Bellerose, N.Y.; and three brothers, Thomas Turi of New York City, Armando Turi of Little Ferry, N.J., and Dan Turi of Palm Harbor, Fla.
