Savvy wine buy: Jalousie ‘99 Chardonnay
Wednesday, Jan. 17, 2001 | 8:53 a.m.
This wine comes from the historically rich French province of Gascony, like the Three Musketeers. Normally, when we think of wines from France, we think of high prices, but not in this case. The Southwest of France still offers terrific value for its wines, and this one, vinified in 50 percent new oak, is a buttery, creamy wine scented with butterscotch and pineapple. The one down side for some people will be that the wine is mildly acidic, but that, almost by definition, makes it a good wine with food.
Available at Marche Bacchus, $9.99
