LAKE MEAD: Over the weekend Nevada Division of Wildlife creel clerks checked a number of stripers that weighed from 10-18 pounds and were caught close to shore around Government Wash.

Creel clerk Walt deMattos said the fish are being taken with Rattle Trap lures very close to shore. Some of the big stripers have been caught from water that is less than two feet deep.

Creel clerks have recently checked several tilapia that weighed around three pounds and were caught in Las Vegas Bay. The fish, which are edible, are exotics from Africa that were unlawfully introduced into the lake.

Rainbow trout fishing has been good following NDOW's weekly plants at Hemenway Harbor, B-5 Cove, Horsepower Cove and Government Wash. Largemouth bass are deep and fishing appears to have tapered off during the past week.

LAKE MOHAVE: Very slow fishing was found for striped bass over the weekend as creel clerks checked just a few fish over the weekend at Cottonwood Cove. Most of the anglers in that area have been casting and trolling with lures following the trout plants.

WAYNE E. KIRCH WILDLIFE MANAGEMENT AREA: All of the lakes are covered with ice and fishing has been slow for rainbow trout.

EAGLE VALLEY RESERVOIR: Ice on the upper end of the lake is 3-7 inches thick and fishing has been slow for stocked rainbow trout. The ice around the boat dock is unsafe for ice fishing.

ECHO CANYON RESERVOIR: The ice is 8-12 inches on the upper portion of the reservoir and fishing has been fair for rainbow trout. Most anglers are using Powerbait to catch the fish.
