Developers removes request for brothel license

Lance Gilman pulled his licensing requests for two brothels off Interstate 80 because they could harm a future industrial park he also is developing.
Storey County officials were leaning toward granting the licenses to Gilman, a major force behind the county's new 100,000-acre Tahoe-Reno Industrial Park. The license question was on Tuesday's commission agenda.
The two brothels, dubbed "Cookie Jar, Inc.," would have given the county at least $210,000 in annual tax revenues. County officials hoped the new brothels could open by the summer.
Gilman said he would not seek the licenses because of the nearby industrial park.
"I've made a mistake," he said. "Corporate America and the brothel business don't mix. Its like oil and water."
