Jim Dale Blair

Jim Dale Blair, 67, of Pahrump died Saturday in a local hospice. He was born June 28, 1933, in Kansas City, Mo. A resident for six years, he retired in 1987 as owner of Sonaire Sanitation, was a Korean War Navy veteran, a member of the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 10054 in Pahrump.

He is survived by his wife, Barbara; two daughters, Jan. B. Orbin of Pennsville, N.J., and Jeanne B. Shotwell of Newton, Pa.; one stepdaughter, Susan Carter of Silt, Colo.; two stepsons, Richard Birch and Stephen Birch, both of Wilmington, Del.; 15 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Visitation is scheduled 30 minutes prior to 11:30 a.m. services Wednesday in Pahrump Family Mortuary, 2240 E. Calvada Blvd.

Karen Kay Carl

Karen Kay Carl, 60, of Omaha, Neb., died Saturday in an Omaha hospital. She was born Jan. 16, 1940, in Denison, Iowa. A former Las Vegas resident, she was a writer in the gaming industry.

She is survived by two sons, Kelly Carl of Omaha and Mark Carl of Las Vegas; two daughters, Kim Carl of Omaha and Tammy Hall of Phoenix; one sister, MaryJo Egan of St. Louis; three brothers, David Heffernan of Las Vegas, Laurence Heffernan of Omaha and Patrick Heffernan of Texas; and two grandchildren.

No local services are scheduled. Reichmuth Funeral Homes Inc., Elkhorn, Neb., is handling arrangements.

Gene Fazio

Gene Fazio, 63, of Las Vegas died Saturday in Las Vegas. He was born March 11, 1937, in Chicago. A resident for 16 years, he was an apartment maintenance worker.

He is survived by his wife, Beverly; his mother, Gudrun Mickelsen; three brothers, Robert Mickelsen, Joseph Bach and Al Ciapponi; and three sisters, Carol Bach, Barbara Ciapponi and Jean Mickelsen.

Desert Memorial Cremation and Burial Society, 1111 Las Vegas Blvd. North, is handling arrangements.

Michael R. Grillo

Michael R. Grillo, 68, of Henderson died Saturday in Henderson. He was born Feb. 15, 1932, in Brooklyn, N.Y. A resident for five years, he was a superintendent in the construction industry.

He is survived by his wife, Anna; two sons, Frank Grillo and Michael Grillo Jr., both of Henderson; one daughter, Susan Hein of Goose Creek, S.C.; two brothers, John Grillo of Queens, N.Y., and James Grillo of Bay Shore, N.Y.; two sisters, Victoria DePasquale and Josephine Barone, both of Baldwin, N.Y.; and four grandchildren.

Graveside services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday in Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Boulder City. Burial will be private. Hites Funeral Services, 438 W. Sunset Road, Henderson, is handling arrangements.

Cathy Jean Holley

Cathy Jean Holley, 39, of Las Vegas died Friday in Las Vegas. She was born June 23, 1961, in Torrance, Calif. An Albertson's produce department employee, she was a former Las Vegas resident for 21 years until 1993 and just recently had moved back to Las Vegas.

She is survived by two daughters, Jessie R. James of Las Vegas and Kimberly E. Tunnell of Ogden, Utah; her father, William Hunter Sr. of Las Vegas; one brother, William Hunter Jr. of Waseca, Minn.; and two sisters, Patricia Stutes of Lakewood, Calif., and Carol Gates of Reno.

Visitation is scheduled 5-8 p.m. Wednesday in Davis Paradise Valley Funeral Home, 6200 S. Eastern Ave. Services will be 10 a.m. Thursday in Davis Paradise Valley Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Palm Valley View Memorial Park.

Harry Jacoby

Harry Jacoby, 86, of Henderson died Friday in a local health care center. He was born Oct. 15, 1914, in Brooklyn, N.Y. A resident for two years, he owned and operated a painting contracting firm, was an Army Air Corps veteran and a member of the Masons.

He is survived by his wife, Vivianne; one son, Harry J. Jacoby of West Hills, Calif.; four daughters, Pamela Rassmusen of Newberry Park, Calif., Judith Mombleau of Palmdale, Calif., Nicollete Bonnell of Valencia, Calif., and Tina McConnell of Chesterfield, Va.; one sister, Trudy Kent of Hollywood, Calif.; nine grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Jack Krinick

Jack Krinick, 83, of Henderson died Monday in Las Vegas. He was born Jan. 29, 1917, in New Brunswick, N.J. A resident for 11 years, he was a retired produce manager.

He is survived by one son, Stewart Krinick of Henderson; one daughter, Rochelle Surgeon of Torrington, Conn.; one sister, Esther Samuels of Bricktown, N.J.; six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Visitation was scheduled 30 minutes prior to 3 p.m. services today in Davis Paradise Valley Funeral Home, 6200 S. Eastern Ave. Burial followed in Paradise Memorial Gardens.

Emil F. LaGuardia

Emil F. LaGuardia, 85, of Las Vegas died Saturday in a local hospice. He was born June 5, 1915, in the Bronx, N.Y. A resident for four years, he was a retired driver, a World War II Army veteran and a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.

He is survived by his wife, Else; one daughter; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Visitation was scheduled 2 p.m. until 5 p.m. services today in Palm Mortuary, 7400 W. Cheyenne Ave.

Betty M. Mailhot

Betty M. Mailhot, 73, of Las Vegas died Sunday in Las Vegas. She was born July 28, 1927, in Richmond, Ind. A resident for 35 years, she was a change attendant in the gaming industry.

She is survived by one son, Sonny Benton Clapp of Arcanum, Ohio; one daughter, Candy Spears of Chanute, Kan.; one brother, Gale Baker of Fort Myers, Fla.; six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Frances Boots Cummins McKeaney

Frances Boots Cummins McKeaney, 67, of Las Vegas died Sunday in a local hospice. She was born Sept. 3, 1933, in Philadelphia. A resident for seven months, she was a homemaker.

She is survived by her husband, John D.; three daughters, Anne Marie Scott of Moorpark, Calif., Irene A. McKeaney of Las Vegas and Mary C. Geenen of Redmond, Ore.; three sons, John D. McKeaney Jr. of Moorpark, Daniel J. McKeaney of Henderson and Lawrence P. McKeaney of Las Vegas; three sisters, Mary McIlhenney, Margaret Weitzel and Elizabeth Kramer, all of Philadelphia; and six grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled one hour prior to 10 a.m. services Thursday in St. John Neumann Catholic Church, 4519 Simmons St., North Las Vegas. Graveside services will follow at 11:15 a.m. Thursday in Palm Memorial Park, Northwest.

Marcella 'Tillie' McNair

Marcella "Tillie" McNair, of Las Vegas died Saturday in a local hospital. She was born Feb. 11, 1923, in Jacksonville, Fla. A resident for 14 years, she was a hospital supervisor, past president, usher and greeter, finance committee member and charter member of the Green Valley United Methodist Church, Henderson.

She is survived by three daughters, Emerelle McNair of Atlanta, Beverlye McNair of Orlando, Fla., and Stephanie Kanu of Brooklyn, N.Y.; one son, Kimble McNair of Las Vegas; three sisters, Vassie Lee Dell and Rose Ann Harper, both of Jacksonville, and Johneva Harper of Brooklyn; and six grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled noon-7 p.m. Wednesday in Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave. Services will be 11 a.m. Thursday in Green Valley United Methodist Church, 2200 Robindale Road, Henderson.

Louis William Merrell

Louis William Merrell, 57, of Tonopah died Saturday in Pahrump. He was born July 20, 1943, in Oklahoma. A budget director for the Nye County School District and a former mayor of Guthrie, Okla., he was a Navy veteran.

He is survived by his wife, Brenda; one daughter, Michelle Rayburn of Texas; one son, David Merrell, and one sister, Sue Hopcus, both of Oklahoma; and one brother, Robert Merrell of Boulder City.

Visitation is scheduled 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Friday in Pahrump Family Mortuary, 2240 E. Calvada Blvd. Burial will be in Oklahoma.

Marie L. Minneci

Marie L. Minneci, 75, of Las Vegas died Sunday in a local hospital. She was born Jan. 19, 1925, in Hoboken, N.J. A resident for five years, she was a retired insurance company representative.

She is survived by her husband, Salvatore; three brothers, Anthony Palladino of Las Vegas, Perry Palladino of Island Heights, N.J., and Angelo Palladino of Little Ferry, N.J.; and one sister, Madeleine Giaquinto of Hoboken, N.J.

Visitation will continue until 6 p.m. today in Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave. Services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday in St. Anne Catholic Church, 1901 S. Maryland Parkway. Burial will follow in Palm Valley View Memorial Park.

Florence Helen Preble

Florence Helen Preble, 81, of Las Vegas died Jan. 9 in a local hospital. She was born Nov. 18, 1919, in Fort Leavenworth, Kan. A resident for 48 years, she was a homemaker.

She is survived by her husband, Lawrence; two sons, Estus Roper of Las Vegas and Roger Preble of Alpine, Utah; two daughters, Carol Elledge and Linda Kindred, both of Las Vegas; one sister, Betty Bolsgena of Leavenworth; eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Services will be 2:30 p.m. Saturday in Desert Memorial Cremation and Burial Society, 1111 Las Vegas Blvd. North. Graveside services will be in Texas.

James E. Robinson

James E. Robinson, 91, of Las Vegas died Sunday in Las Vegas. He was born July 24, 1909, in Marshall, Texas. A resident for three years, he was a real estate broker and a member of the Masons.

He is survived by one son, Harry Robinson of Las Vegas; and eight grandchildren.

Luella F. Rody

Luella F. Rody, 86, of Las Vegas died Saturday in a local care center. She was born May 14, 1914, in Coldwater, Kan. A resident for 25 years, she was a homemaker.

She is survived by two sons, Michael D. Rody of Juneau, Alaska, and Frank T. Rody of Las Vegas; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

James E. Robinson, 91, of Las Vegas died Sunday in Las Vegas. He was born July 24, 1909, in Marshall, Texas. A resident for three years, he was a real estate broker and a member of the Masons.

Jose Saldivar, 75, of Las Vegas died Friday in a local hospital. He was born June 3, 1925, in Bingham, Utah. A resident for 25 years, he was a retired hotel kitchen worker.

He is survived by his wife, Socorro; three daughters, Socorro Garcia, Rosa Saldivar and Erica Sotelo, and five sons, Sergio Saldivar, Jorge Saldivar, Jose Saldivar, Jesus Saldivar and Luis Carlos Saldivar, all of Las Vegas; one sister, Jovita Saldivar of Mexico; three brothers, Brigido Saldivar, Jesus Saldivar and Blas Saldivar, all of Mexico; 16 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Visitation will continue until 7 p.m. today with a 6 p.m. rosary and 10-11 a.m. Wednesday in Palm Mortuary, 1325 N. Main St. Services will be 11:30 a.m. Wednesday in St. Christopher's Catholic Church, 1840 N. Bruce St. Graveside services will follow in Palm Memorial Park.

Clifford Roy Shelton

Clifford Roy Shelton, 45, of Pahrump died Saturday in Las Vegas. He was born Oct. 19, 1955, in North Carolina. A resident for two months, he was an Elvis impersonator and a member of the Musicians Union.

He is survived by his wife, Sandy; three daughters, Sandy Maxie of Pahrump and Della Della Pella and Andrea Sumner, both of Michigan; one son, Lonnie Maxie of Michigan; and 12 grandchildren.

Services will be 5-8 p.m. Wednesday in Pahrump Family Mortuary, 2240 E. Calvada Blvd. Services will be 1 p.m. Thursday in Pahrump Family Mortuary. Burial will follow in Chief Tecopa Cemetery.

Lilburne Elizabeth Slater

Lilburne Elizabeth Slater, 87, of Henderson died Saturday in a local hospital. She was born April 8, 1913, in Dallas. A resident for eight years, she was a homemaker.

She is survived by her husband, Wayne; one daughter, Sharon Baggs of Henderson; two sons, Cleve Walker of Frisco, Texas, and Dale Tuttle of Amarillo, Texas; six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday in Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave.

Sidney W. Spradley

Sidney W. Spradley, 75, of Las Vegas died Saturday in Las Vegas. He was born Dec. 28, 1925, in Texas. A resident for seven years, he was a chemical tech inspector for an automotive firm and a World War II Navy veteran.

He is survived by one daughter, Mary Ann Spradley of Las Vegas; one son, William Spradley of La Palma, Calif.; one brother, Jim Spradley of Dallas; and five grandchildren.

Marie I. Stahl, 83, of Henderson died Sunday in Las Vegas. A homemaker, she was born Feb. 23, 1917, in Jersey City, N.J.

She is survived by one daughter, Edwina Angeloni of Henderson; and one granddaughter, Bellene Angeloni of Las Vegas.

Dirklena VanKomen, 87, of Henderson died Monday in Henderson. She was born Nov. 19, 1913, in Groningen, Holland. A resident for six years, she owned a delicatessen.

She is survived by one son, Leo VanKomen of Salt Lake City; two daughters, Maria Dutson of Henderson and Janet Berry of Salt Lake City; seven grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

Louis N. Wheelock, 69, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in a local hospice. He was born Oct. 18, 1931, in Amherst, Mass. A resident for two years, he worked in electronics.

He is survived by his wife, Sharon; one daughter, Teri Lynne Wheelock; one sister, Marge Kennedy; and three grandchildren.

Granville F. Wright, 69, of Las Vegas died Saturday in Las Vegas. He was born Dec. 12, 1931, in Honolulu. A resident for 25 years, he was a retired airline ramp service employee and a Korean War Army veteran.

He is survived by his wife, Dorothy; one son, Grant Wright of San Jose, Calif.; one daughter, Ramona Nelson of Henderson; three brothers, William Wright of Oahu, Hawaii, Tommy Wright of Honolulu and Haywood Wright of San Francisco; and three sisters, Ethelwynne Carter and Panny Young, both of Oahu, and Mona Parker of Henderson.
