Letter: Let’s act like ‘United’ States

To make such statements is unproductive. The comments initiate more discord among Americans. It is clear from the popular vote that this country is divided quite equally between Democrats and Republicans.
We as Americans are watched closely by the rest of the world and our division is obvious to all. We are also role models to our children, some who will someday run this country.
It is time to focus on our common interests and goals rather than on our differences.
We should stand behind our new president-elect and support him wholeheartedly. All Democrats and Republicans need to grow up and work together and make compromises for the best interest of our country.
I agree with George Bush. It is time to move forward. We are the United States of America, not the Divided States of America.
