Peace in the Middle East is as elusive today as it was when Hank wrote about Egyptian President Anwar Sadat's meeting with Prime Minister Menachem Begin in Israel. I had the truly great privilege of visiting with President Sadat prior to his trip. I went with Hank to Egypt when he carried a message from Begin inviting Sadat to the meeting.
President Sadat was very warm and gracious in his greeting to us. It was one of the most memorable moments of my life. When the peace treaty was signed at the White House, Hank and I were among the guests invited to attend. I was overwhelmed with the knowledge of having seen history in the making.
